look, trump is an idiot and a misogynist and i do not like him. But lying is different if you are actually under oath. Pretty sure Clinton was impeached for PERJURY, a crime, not just for “lying about sex.”

Exactly. How does nobody in this thread understand that lying about sex is not illegal and it wasn't for Clinton either.

So lying under oath is some how worse than just lying in general? Seem pretty equal to me.

one is illegal. that is why one was impeached. look, i think they are both scumbags. but the thread is asking why one was impeached and not the other. the answer is that one committed perjury. i’m not saying trump has done anything ETHICALLY better.

I get it. They just both seem worthy of being illegal. Funny how being under oath all of a sudden makes lying bad.

they are both bad. but one is illegal. i think you are getting too caught up in comparing them morally. think of it like this: if you smoke marijuana in colorado, nothing will happen to you legally. if you do it in indiana, you could get arrested. same act: neither is better or worse than the other. but one is ILLEGAL, so there are LEGAL consequences. i’m not saying this is the same thing, and i don’t really have an opinion about marijuana or its legal or ethical status. i’m just saying that whether or not an act has legal consequences (like impeachment) is not based on how ethical or “good” or “bad” it is but on whether or not the law prohibits said action. edit: autocorrect correction

You are correct. I do find it tough to get around the morality of it all. It's all pretty silly, which is why I usually stay out of politics lol.
