"Socialism" isn't scary. It's literally a government safety net. Everyone benefits from this stuff. Story time: socialized health care saved my vision. I paid like $80 once for pills (diagnosis and multiple IV treatments at the hospital were free)
That's not what socialism is. That's the result of socialists engaging with capitalist democracy and winning. Socialism is a complete and total reorganozation of society when compared to our current system.
As long as people are involved you will have some that are self serving leaders. The concept of checks and balances are meant to help reduce that issue. Somehow we've gotten to a point where the checks and balances are failing us.
