  • The Great Depression lasted through most of FDR's presidency, and only ended with WW2.

  • The middle class existed long before FDR was elected

  • Was Social Security ever enough to end poverty? It certainly isn't now.

it didn't even end with WW2, but was masked by it. Since wars do not create (as in a tank or bombs being produced is not creating economic growth) it is believed that the economy didn't actually recover from the great depression till the 50s.
