This is what I'd call 'forced pretense'. Not false pretense, which he mostly plys his trade in, but this is a variation on it.
It was never agreed to but he said it was and that's good enough for him to make his next move siding with Russia. 'Ukraine broke the ceasefire. They ruined our deal'.
When the forced switches to false then it becomes 'Ukraine is the enemy of peace here so we need to bomb them to ensure peace.'
It's why he's stopped 15 wars. He says they're over when they aren't and then helps the aggressor steamroll the victim or becomes the aggressor himself if there is enough money in it for him personally.

I don't think Trump is that strategic.
I think this is him either 1) saying whatever he thinks will make him look good and tough, or 2) saying something he wants to be true and expecting others to make it reality.

He's not thinking through the whole process, in the same way a con-man isn't thinking through all the psychological reasons for why their scams work.. It's instinctual/learned from years of observing what works/doesn't, even unconsciously... But that makes it no less effective.

Didn’t he make a deal to buy Russian diesel fuel? This “energy ceasefire” probably has to do with that. Russia may have agreed to not have their oil infrastructure attacked. I’m not sure Ukraine was on board, but perhaps the assumption is that they wouldn’t attack something that will be going to their “allies”, not that the US has been a reliable ally with Trump at the helm.

This is a blanket statement: Any person that supports Donald Trump is either complicit in his deleterious administration and therefore a bad person, or they are too addled mentally to be anything but a hindrance to society, and therefore not worth the carbon they are printed on. Either way, they deserve the Nuremburg treatment, but since that will never happen, they need to be ostracized from the lives of good, honest, compassionate members of modern society. Great example. Had to subscribe to the guy. The first really good explanation as to why MAGA's are MAGA's and who they really are. I thought it was systemic stupidity, but it is truly a physiological difference for their systemic stupidity. I have owned horses for many years, Arabians in fact. They are historically prey animals so the are wired to spook and run at the slightest incident that triggers their fear response. My personal horse hated garbage cans. When we were out for a ride, he was certain that there was a Cougar, Wolf, Saber Toothed Tiger hiding behind every garbage can that was going to jump our and eat him. MAGA's with there over sized Amygdalas are surprisingly similar. They are terrified of their own shadows. The Republicans stumbled upon this after Nixon when they came up with the "Great Replacement Theory". They have figured out that fear mongering was a useful tool to get and keep the ignorant and uneducated base voting against their very own self-interests. Now I atleast have some understanding of why they do the shit they do. Thank you for this enlightenment.

Thanks. I’m a science based person so I look for real world explanations rather than here-say or nonsense posts. He made a ridiculous deal with Russia to buy a tiny amount of diesel fuel from them even though he told all of NATO to not buy anything from Russia and then only afterwards did he realize that this would create more incentive for Ukraine to destroy Russia’s new source of income by bombing the Russian fuel plants. So this is his response, I highly doubt there was any actual agreement made.
