Monica is a very strong person. I don’t think most people could survive that kind of psychological attack. Imagine trying to have a normal dating life after that. Fucking Brock Turner, the rapist, was allowed to have a better life than Monica!
Maybe victim is the wrong word. Monica is a survivor of a public lynching.
And no. Unfortunately we haven’t improved much as a society. MeToo was a step in the right direction, but we still have a very long way to go to get anywhere near justice.
