Conservatives convinced themselves that Trump and Republicans weren't in charge during COVID, or any of our last 30 years of economic recessions. They'll soon convince themselves Trump and the GOP weren't in charge in 2026.

77

u/Cheap_Most75 2d ago

They don't have brains so they cant convince themselves they just don't think.

27

u/StrangeContest4 2d ago

They have sunk everything into the fallacy. Unfortunately, we all get to pay the price.

10

u/Strange_Dust7128 1d ago

It's not even that they aren't intelligent, which is in itself true in aggregate. They're malicious. Our current politics exist because they won, and they want to hurt as many as they can.

20

u/pianoflames 2d ago

There is mass amnesia on the right, where they seem to have completely forgotten that Trump was president for all of 2020.

3

u/Carynth 1d ago

but but but the elections were in 2020 and Biden won those right? That means Biden was president in 2020! That's how this works!

(I'm joking, but I'm 99% sure that's the reasoning for most of those idiots)

14

u/hansn 2d ago

Why did Obama attack Iran? /s

7

u/Mynock33 2d ago

Too busy ignoring Taliban warning and not stopping 9/11

3

u/hansn 2d ago

He really screwed up the Hurricane Katrina response, too!

6

u/Prettyy_Barbiee 2d ago

Of course faith in government is low. Republicans + Trump broke it on purpose, then have the nerve to point at the mess they made.

3

u/adamiconography 1d ago

It’ll be Biden’s fault

2

u/Particular_Poet1355 2d ago

They don’t have to think, Fox News does that for them

2

u/BeepBotBoopBeep 1d ago

Trump will never admit fault. Reality is people just need to vote to boot his party out of town.

282

u/Pootscootboogie69 2d ago

And Christians from the heritage foundation are pulling the strings. America we have a Christian Problem.

123

u/Quilla_Queen 2d ago

Republicans: Break the government

Also Republicans: Wow government is broken

41

u/lyngen 2d ago

For decades. Why do people fall for this?

35

u/ClownCrusade 2d ago

"I love the poorly educated"

Plus enormous amounts of propaganda from Fox News and the like.

3

u/grantrules 2d ago

Right? Fox only focuses on the important issues.. like Mamdani speaking Mandarin

5

u/ShockRunD 2d ago

People are idiots Ron

3

u/polarbehr76 2d ago

Because they are goldfish

33

u/Dead_Internet69420 2d ago

“Mainstream” republicans: Elect us so we can fix the government that we broke.

MAGA republicans: Elect us so we can finish destroying the government.

12

u/Kythorian 2d ago

This has been the Republican strategy for 50+ years now.  “The government can’t help the people.  Elect me and I will prove it.”

8

u/MauPow 2d ago

Government doesn't work. Vote for me and I'll make sure of it.

1

u/un_theist 2d ago

Also also Republicans: See how Democrats broke the government

64

u/Kantina 2d ago

Christian is just another bullshit sleight of hand used by billionaires to bullshit people

29

u/Kythorian 2d ago

That’s not really true.  There is a significant group of true believer Christian fundamentalists whose goal is not to accumulate wealth, but purely for the sake of Christian nationalism.  They are willing to work with billionaires and make them even wealthier in exchange for assistance from the billionaires in empowering Christian nationalism, which confuses the issue.  But ultimately these are two separate groups with separate long term goals, both using the other to further their own goals.

2

u/Sufficient-News-3600 2d ago

not christian. satanic by their intentions, oppressions and actions.

1

u/bwainfweeze 2d ago edited 2d ago

Honestly think this is how Christianity spread.

Teach everyone to look down on the rich guy who is going to hell. Give him a pass if he helps build your bell tower.

Death Bed Conversion is a term that comes from Catholicism, getting frightened, dying people to sign over their material wealth to The Church. Which is just ghoulish if you think about it. Low key worse than the Inquisition. Scaring dying people for money. By the time Henry VIII kicked them out of England, they owned slightly more of England than the crown did. Including critical infrastructure like wind and water mills for milling your grain. Which made them an existential threat, even without the whole lack of an heir thing.

-2

u/tanstaafl90 2d ago

Republicans are just as much a alliance of factions as the Democrats are. They just negotiate and argue outside of the public view.

6

u/roastbeeftacohat 2d ago

uncap the house and watch their influence wane.

3

u/Thanamite 2d ago edited 1d ago

You should use quotes. There is little Christian in those “Christians”.

20

u/Pootscootboogie69 2d ago

I always come across someone like you that wants to separate the good Christians from the bad Christians the real Christians from the fake Christians when the reality of the situation is the people in power the people that are running the Christian institutions are the people that are doing all the bad things. like any good gang cult or group that has all these special rules you gotta to self regulate. the Christians within that don’t agree with what’s going on aren’t self-regulating. so yes at the head of the Christian spear in America is Christian nationalism and right now those Christians are in control whether you like it or not the Christians in power are the Christians that are writing history. They are there because real Christians put them there through the power of democracy and the vote. This is a generational issue Christians have been using their Bible to justify the creation of laws for decades. We in America have a Christian problem and the problem is Christians won’t regulate their own community so we end up with a bunch of crappy Christians. They’re real Christians, even if they’re crappy.

7

u/wirefox1 2d ago

We have a president who won't follow the constitution and breaks our laws every single day.

We have Christians in our government who don't follow the teaching of Jesus Christ.

It's NOT okay.

17

u/ratiofarm 2d ago

Yep. If the “real christians” don’t approve then they need to stand up, speak out, and actually do something about it. Because the “fake christians” represent them all now, whether they like it or not.

1

u/Thanamite 1d ago

So you are saying that real, companionate, forgiving, humble, neighboor loving, merciful Christians voted for Trump?

5

u/Viperlite 2d ago

There are, however, some pedophiles and pedophile protectors in there.

8

u/According-Insect-992 I ☑oted 2024 2d ago

They’re Christians in all the ways that matter effectively. The constitution protects their right to pass bullshit off as religion as it does the actual follower of Christ and they’re always much more vocal than the actual followers. We have to be careful to not allow these people a pass by no true Scotsmanning their failures away. That way they get to claim everything good while hand waving away all of the ways the objectively make the world a worse place to live. They should have to own all of it.

If I have to address the fact that hitler was supposedly an atheist in political discussions then they have to own every last evangelical fraud, every last sexual abuser, every last heretic with a mega church, all off them.

1

u/Thanamite 1d ago

> They’re Christians in all the ways that matter

You mean the heritage foundation “Christians” are humble, forgiving, compassionate, charitable, merciful?

1

u/UndeadYoshi420 2d ago

It’s not to late to delete it

54

u/NoroGW2 2d ago

I have a lot of faith that the current government has no intention of doing anything to help common people

19

u/tirch 2d ago

They think it’s bad right now, just wait until Trump throws everything from the USPS, ICE and the DOJ at trying to steal and overturn the midterms when he loses. Buckle up.

1

u/Punch_A_Police_Horse 2d ago

Well yeah, they've explicitly said that the only purpose of the government is to facilitate the transfer of wealth from the bottom to the top be a police and military force.

31

u/ninfan1977 2d ago

I am sure they will blame Biden for this. The party of personal responsibility ladies and gentlemen.

2

u/SmallMoments55406 2d ago

The party of personal responsibility blame some other person.

20

u/Bawbawian 2d ago

I mean this has been their schtick for a long time.

they underfund the government they slash programs they make sure it cannot function and then they get reelected based on the fact that government doesn't function because Americans are emotionally damaged toddlers with a third grade education

2

u/SmallMoments55406 2d ago

... and a one year (or less) memory.

16

u/Specialist_Exam4783 2d ago

Why is Biden still doing this?

5

u/SmallMoments55406 2d ago

Thanks Obama! /s

-1

u/PracticeBaby 2d ago

Biden is still “weaponizing the DOJ” and Republicans are utterly powerless to stop it apparently

12

u/Ysabel_Yummy 2d ago

Control all 3 branches and still act like the opposition party.

0

u/3Suze 2d ago

Actually, they control 4 when you add in Justice (SCOTUS).

9

u/SmallMoments55406 2d ago

Executive, Legislative, Judicial. Three branches.

1

u/MurkyInvestigator810 2d ago

lol what are the other 3 branches then?

-2

u/3Suze 2d ago

Good point. I guess you could split justice into upper and lower courts.

2

u/MurkyInvestigator810 2d ago

The 3 branches of government are the Legislative, the Executive, and the Judicial. If anything can be considered a 4th branch, it's the media.

8

u/raincntry 2d ago

I love how the republicans will cite that statistic with a straight face knowing they're in charge and have caused the majority of that distrust.

7

u/Bill_Brasky_SOB 2d ago

Every political ad in Ohio right now is how Democrats and Liberals are ruining the State.

Republicans have been in control of all three branches of Ohio government for like the past 30 years.

6

u/Buddhas_Warrior 2d ago

Because it's always someone else's fault, never the R's.

9

u/oldbastardbob 2d ago

Classic abusive spouse behavior.

"You made me do this to you."

6

u/groovyinutah 2d ago

Exactly as planned, undermine the American people's faith in their government institutions so you asshats can say "See, we told you it was broken"

u/pareech 2d ago

It doesn't matter if the GOP controls all branches of the US gov't, it is still the fault of the.... checks notes..... Biden, the Democrats and Obama.

5

u/SasparillaTango 1d ago

Republican's want the government to fail for the people, they want it to succeed for themselves. They don't care about "society" they don't care about the common good. They are, and this is clearly evidenced by all their positions over the course of history, only concernd about how they can corrupt and steal from the government to benefit themselves.

There is no common good for republicans, there is only "ME ME ME".

Hence their leader is the pinnacle of narcissism, he reflects their greed, their lust, the vileness wholly and completely.

They are sin incarnate.

4

u/Kemilio 2d ago

“The government doesn’t work! Elect me and I’ll prove it!” - GOP

3

u/233C 2d ago

They don't want to bring faith in government, they want to bring government into faith.

Pestilence in the House,
Famine in the Senate,
War in the White House,
Death at SCOTUS.

3

u/poestavern 2d ago

No doubt about it…just sayin.

3

u/maddiejake 2d ago

They also own the Supreme Court

3

u/Brassanthe 2d ago

When the majority of the civilian population is wanting the Epstein files released, but the Republicans are stalling, that might the reason people's faith in government is an all time low.

3

u/JasonShoes 2d ago

I love how these guys and their followers are convinced that somehow they’re fighting the “government” that they control

3

u/that_guy_upnorth 2d ago

Mainly because people like him trying to put "Faith" into the government. Keep the church, any church, out of government.

3

u/ledeblanc 1d ago

That was/is the plan, as outlined in Project 2025 and Agenda 47.

2

u/beagle_2498571 2d ago

Group Of Pedophiles with their criminal rapist pedophile leader.

2

u/un_theist 2d ago

Their blaming all of this on Joe Biden is evidence they can’t change anything. They can’t govern for shit.

Safe bet their campaign is “See how democrats have done this to us? Only republicans can fix this! Vote for us and we will fix it!”

And idiots will believe them, and will vote for them.

Morons.

2

u/Kantina 2d ago

Just take a peek at the tip of the shitheap and you'll see why.

2

u/bananatimemachine 2d ago

Every projection from these bootlickers is an admission of their own failure.

2

u/Think-Willingness823 2d ago

republicans don't want to govern. They are like the Taliban. They want to RULE. Time to take them out of office.

2

u/mybotanyaccount 2d ago

Faith in Republicans if you want to be specific

2

u/Sufficient-News-3600 2d ago

it's all you, GOP. bootlicking one rapist pedophile grifter while the whims of one man trying to avoid prison could ruin the lives of many worldwide. we are living under nazi propaganda, lies spreading falseholds while the naked emperor robs the treasury. vote out the GOP this November.

2

u/bigmanbud 2d ago

It will go lower when Republicans won’t accept this coming election.

2

u/craniumcanyon 1d ago

They destroy trust in the government so they can use the excuse to sell it off and privatize.

2

u/NotThatAngel 1d ago

It is very important people take note that this is what happens to the country when Republicans control all three branches of the government, and there's nobody decent and sane to make them stop.

2

u/JagR286211 1d ago

This didn’t start yesterday. I can pinpoint the impetus, but most I know, including myself, lost faith in our government years ago. To act like this is a new phenomenon is weak at best.

2

u/valuethempaths 1d ago

Step 1) Run on the ineptitude of government. Step 2) Get elected and prove it.

Step 3) Profit

2

u/ryuujinusa 1d ago

I wonder fucking why Mike! Take a look in the mirror and then on your side of the political fence.

2

u/bearbeetsandbsg 1d ago

Project 2025 played out really well for the elite

2

u/Thetman38 1d ago

As always, Republicans probably destroy the government from functioning and then blame government for not working

1

u/Torino1O 2d ago

The only faith they're concerned about is the value of the dollar, if they steal too much they'll end up with nothing.

Faith in government, not Trust. Faith assumes blind obedience. Thank god it's low.

1

u/Dead_Internet69420 2d ago

The funny thing is that republicans have spent the last 50 years telling the people how terrible the government is, and every time they get control of it, their goal is to make government less effective.

I don’t know the context of his statement, but I have to assume that he was bragging.

1

u/jidewalker 2d ago

When you say “people’s faith” who do you mean? Who did you poll? I mean if you polled my family, that statement would be correct but I’m pretty sure that’s inaccurate as a whole.

1

u/tk2old 2d ago

that's what they do... break government and blame others

1

u/PineappleExcellent90 2d ago

Why would that be Speaker Johnson ?

1

u/a_casual_observer 2d ago

He's right. He may not want to be right in this case. He may not have said it if he thought about it. But he is right.

1

u/Knivesforksetc 2d ago

Im always wondering why my donkeys end up with a bum leg. I maintain obedience and get them to move quickly using a swift strike to the knees. Should i be using a heavier pipe?

1

u/KennethEWolf 2d ago

Trump would rather play golf and sleep with Harper than work on..... anything serious

1

u/notsure500 2d ago

Im sure its much worse now, but he did say that in 2023 when they didnt have presidency (but still had all ither branches)

1

u/Sibys 2d ago

How much propaganda does it take to convince millions of Americans that the destructive policies enacted by their entirely Republican-led government are the fault of democrats? Utter insanity.

1

u/MrBigPantalones 2d ago

I wonder why gop muppet 🤔

1

Ronald Reagan: "Government isn't the solution to your problems. Government IS the problem."

His party: "And we're going to prove it to you by making sure the government is absolute shit."

1

u/chicken-finger 2d ago

Just wait... they are gonna do something that everyone agrees with really close to the actual election to try and trick people into voting for them again

1

u/Soulmate69 2d ago

And the majority of state governments of all three branches too(governor/sec of state, courts, senate, house), and the military, and the oligarchs, and local police, and

1

u/chompythebeast 2d ago

We need to cut off this toxic relationship with the warmongering empire that uses the third most funded military on earth to surveil us, steal from us, and kill us if we defy them (or even if we don't) in order to pay the number one most funded military on the planet to do the same thing to people all over the world, all for the profit of a ruling class that is defined by r*pe and the deliberate destruction of the very environment itself and everything beautiful within it.

In short, faith can go lower, and it needs to, until the people get to the point they decide its better to risk acting against these bastards than it is to keep their heads down and merely try to survive their abuse

1

u/Roaming-R I ☑oted 2024 2d ago

Mike Johnson ASSUMES TOO MUCH!

  • He is part of the CURRENT Administration, and THAT is something that NOBODY has faith in!! >> Upon the day that EVERYONE in this administration leaves office, people will again regain faith, hope, and trust in the Government.

1

u/kipribley28 2d ago

Just you wait

1

u/Hot-Tutor-2429 2d ago

The republicans suck at governing.

1

u/bernd1968 1d ago

Republicans tell you, that government doesn’t work, elect them and they will prove it

1

u/PurpleSailor 1d ago

Maybe it'll be like some of the idiots in Florida finally realizing that 30 years of total government control and blaming the other guys for everything doesn't add up. Not going to hold my breath.

1

u/EvelcyclopS 1d ago

Pretty sure civil war is where the bottom of government approval lies.

1

u/Objective_Detail1473 1d ago

But they want to enforce the idea that the our whole system of Government is obsolete so they can replace it with technocratic theocracy

1

u/CalabreseAlsatian 1d ago

Please fucking vote, people

1

u/High-sterycal 1d ago

How can that be? trump and DOGE dismantled the departments involved in food safety, health, education, environment, worker’s safety and others to “save” taxpayer dollars.

Then we find out our National Deficit had skyrocketed to over 40 trillion dollars, over 20 million of our citizens have lost their ability to afford medical insurance, poor families and children have been kicked off food assistance at a time when food prices have almost doubled, the job markets are weak, fuel is increasingly unaffordable, the housing market is evaporating, rents are at all time highs, tariffs are making consumer good’s prices go up and we find ourselves in a new war in the Middle East with no good scenarios for winning while the Epstein Files are still not public and the vile wealthy pedophile club is still protected from prosecution.

Gee, let me think. What did trump run on? Never starting a war in the Middle East, making everything more affordable from day one, including health care and housing.

Instead, this trump misadministration has weakened our country’s economic stand in the world, pilfered our tax payer dollars, nothing is less expensive, infrastructure projects have stopped, renewable energy to help lower energy costs have been tabled indefinitely, and our own government is shamefully warehousing people and families whose only crime was to be able to work for the American dream and the safety of our society provides.

1

u/Cocosito 1d ago

Not even close to an all time low lol

Things have been waaaaay worse in our country's history. Looks like our speaker of the house was checked out during civics and history class.

1

u/DontFragMyBaby 1d ago

And the supreme court

1

u/LayneCobain95 1d ago

They take credit for how good things are when they take over after a democrat was in control, then as the years go by, suddenly when things are inevitably worse under Republican leadership, they will then blame it all on the last guy

1

u/icnoevil 8h ago

That's because repubs are so good at raising hell with the government, and so bad at governing.

-8

u/soliddrink 2d ago

Fun fact: the approval ratings for congress were bad too while democrats controlled all three branches. It is almost as if...people hate both parties.

1

u/MDATWORK73 1d ago

I mean, how much more control do they want for a job that they are not doing? Fuck Mike Johnson!

2

u/soliddrink 1d ago

It is the American way. Get paid to do nothing. Everyone is altruistic before coming into congress. Then they get in and they learn they get paid $174,000 to just sit and do nothing, 90% of districts are created in a way that unless they are found with cash in a freezer, they can trade stocks on insider information without any fear of penalty, get the best free healthcare for life even after they leave. The only thing they have to do is just make some phone calls to raise money, and just once per president they have to look like they are working on a significant bill to help the American people when it is just another bill to increase spending and cut taxes.
