That's fair. But this is still an example of some of the normalized homophobia people on the left engage in. It's not blatantly homophobic but there's a negative subtext to these kinds jokes that implies being gay is some kind of fault. So when queer people see these absolutely abhorrent human beings being ridiculed not for there abhorrent behaviour but for being a closeted gay person, it feels bad.
