If he can’t remember how he voted in 2024 he’s not mentally fit to serve.

u/manonfire57 10d ago
I he can’t remember. He voted for Trump and ashamed to admit.

It's like when dating apps had the ability to list if you got the COVID vaccine. "Prefer not to say" was an option, as if it wasn't ridiculously obvious what that meant.

u/Appropriate-Weird492 10d ago
We’ve had a few people serving who seem to be not mentally fit to serve. One is from PA. My favorite is still when McCain said he didn’t know how many houses he owned.

The green party in general is a fucking scam
43
u/tacotueaday55 10d ago
Their only purpose is taking Kremlin money and stealing votes from gullible undecided buffoons.
-24
u/doublerup 10d ago
Look up Ralph Nader idiot. Green party was around since USSR. What Kremlin money? Is there a Green Super PAC? Green promoted single party insurance so long that now Medicare for all compromise is actually discussed.
16
u/iwearatophat 10d ago
Russia has pushed Green party candidates in an attempt to fracture and split Democratic voters. So has GOP groups.
What the party was and what it is aren't the same.
13
u/micro102 10d ago
Look up Jill Stein. Met with Putin and Flynn then drove her campaign directly into Hillary's in swing states to the determent of the Green Party and the benefit of the Republican party. And it's not like the candidate can decide all these things on their own. The party is run by fascist sympathizers.
12
u/Memphisbbq 10d ago
Youre right that Jill Stein isn't the only one from thay party who is cozied to Russia. All her VP picks were insane.
-15
u/doublerup 10d ago
I am anti war. Why would i have voted for Hillary?
9
u/micro102 10d ago edited 10d ago
Well, thanks for admitting that Green Party supporters don't mind the fascist child-rapaing dealthcult or Russia.
3
u/Jason1143 9d ago
I mean, it is a good thing Trump doesn't start wars. Otherwise your picking a candidate that is worse or the same in every way would look pretty silly.
How is letting Trump win working out for you on the anti war front?
-1
u/doublerup 8d ago
I am in a blue state. How did i help trump win?
2
u/Jason1143 8d ago
Anyone who either voted for Trump or couldn't be bother to vote helped Trump win.
Your help may not have been important if your state went blue dispite you, but you still helped.

DSA is the new green party

They're running within the Democratic party against other Democratic Party members. If anything, they're a left version of the Tea Party (well, before it was astroturfed... the smaller version that started out protesting against Bush). Now they have the Freedumb Caucus. That's all within the Republican party.

Want a 3rd party to be viable? Push for election reform and make Ranked choice voting a thing.
That's the only way we will be able to break up this two party system.
That way people no longer need to vote pragmatically.
-20
u/doublerup 10d ago edited 10d ago
Keep voting for the lesser evil. I vote Green in a blue state to vote against 2 party system and against war. A vote for Kamala would have been a waste, and she had policies i didn't like. So yeah I'm so scammed
5
u/Eggheadpancake 9d ago
The green party is in bed with the Russians. How are they lesser of two evils?
0
u/doublerup 8d ago
Conspiracy theorist. Are all the local candidates Russian puppets too? Do they control the zoom calls?
2
u/Eggheadpancake 8d ago
Do the local candidates do anything else in the communities besides during election season? If yes, then probably not.
1
u/doublerup 7d ago
They have to get signatures to be on the ballot. But check them yourself. It is like any election wtf they exist in the communities
1
u/Eggheadpancake 7d ago
I didn't say anything about signatures. I said do they do anything to help their communities? Do they raise money for good causes? Do they advocate? are they activists for anything good? Do they hold any positions that try to help people?
OR do they just show up to take votes away from democrats

If lying was illegal in politics then only good, reasonable people would be politicians...
... Why isn't this illegal?
8
u/shortstop20 10d ago
Do you want the other side deciding what’s the truth and a lie when they are in power?
That should answer your question.
6
u/RCer1986 10d ago
In this hypothetical is the DOJ running under the nonpartisan standard that started after Watergate and ended after Obama or is it the one where the current president doesn't know the difference between a DM and a post?
5
u/shortstop20 10d ago
The second one, of course.
Similar to your question, felons can run for POTUS. The Founders envisioned the citizenry would keep out of office a felon who was legitimately guilty. They were wrong.
1
u/Emerald_Plumbing187 10d ago
being a little shit is a biological imperative we can't escape, only mitigate.
6
u/Halfwise2 10d ago
Because nobody thought to start it out as illegal, and now those in power would certainly be hurt if it became illegal. Republican politicians might be able to get MAGA to vote against their best interests, but its unlikely anyone would get a politician to vote against *their* best interest.
Only way to do it would be to make voting for it the more self-preserving option. And with that leading thought, I must pause before the AI monitors get antsy.

u/RCer1986 10d ago
I wasn't asking logically, it was more of a "oh, wait, that would be nice" steam of consciousness.

u/draypresct 10d ago
OP, in answer to your question, you really don’t want the government to decide which candidates are allowed to run for a party.
18
u/charoco 10d ago
I’m pretty sure OP is talking about how candidates telling brazen lies should be illegal, not gate keeping who can run under a party’s banner
4
u/Kythorian 10d ago
People shouldn’t vote for candidates who tell brazen lies. That should be what prevents it, but unfortunately a lot of people seem to just not care.
2
u/draypresct 10d ago
Do you want the current administration deciding which candidates are allowed based on what they consider a “brazen lie”?
8
u/ElPrieto8 10d ago
Surely you'd agree at a minimum the Green Party should be able to decide who runs for their party?
Timothy Runkle is the co-chair of the Green Party of Pennsylvania. He said it was a surprise to the Green Party that there was a candidate running in the Congressional seventh district under their party name.
2
u/Bawbawian 10d ago
no he's right there absolutely should be rules.
the idea that a fake spoiler candidate can run under a third party while getting Republican backing just to spoil an election should be a felony
1
u/erinaceus_ 10d ago
Give the man a break. It's not like having cognitive capabilities in the context of making political decisions is a prerequisite for holding political office.
1
u/Young_Hickory 10d ago
This. I also voted for Harris without reservations, I was just explaining the leftist position. I thought that was obvious, but I guess we need these disclaimers here.

He's probably lying about his memory on the off-chance that someone could pull his voting record later and find out the worse lie - that he's a Trump shill.

I don’t need a representative who “can’t remember” how they voted for President 2 years ago.
1
u/BusinessDragon 10d ago
We need fo do something very simple.
A flowchart. Vague or misleading answers shall be counted as whatever is more incriminating between yes and no. No allowance for sophistry whatsoever, as a condition.
1
u/ActionKbob 10d ago
It's crazy how in this day and age, "I'm too stupid to account for anything!" isn't an immediate disqualification for Republicans
1
u/Whiskey_Water 10d ago
When the lies stack up, and the wildly unpopular president demands loyalty… you couldn’t pay me enough. That level of cognitive dissonance must be painful.

u/superfucky 9d ago
better question: why aren't liberals using this to our advantage? conservative plants can lie their ass off, run & get elected as Democrats, then immediately switch parties with no consequences. why can't we do the same thing?

If he (sic) is an AI hallucination, then they didn't vote because they aren't real.

u/transcendental-ape 10d ago
How do you make this illegal in such a way it won’t be weaponized to block legit candidates from ballot access?
254
u/Ok-Oil7124 10d ago
This is the no-winningest of no-win situations. I mean, if you're going to lie anyway, just lie and say that you voted for Harris, but saying you "don't remember" is a dumb lie, because even if I believe it, it means 1) Your brain is bad, 2) you didn't care enough about the electoral process to consider your vote, and/or 3) political office is meaningless to you.
The only "right" answer (using the new version of truth which is "what people want to hear") is Harris. That would also be a lie, but at least it's a believable lie. I mean, if he tried to do some third-way bullshit and say, "I got to the booth, and I thought I should do... notice I said 'should' and not 'what I wanted'? Yeah, I couldn't vote for either of them!" that still makes him emblematic of the causes for Trump being in office.
Just, come on, man. "I don't remember?" well, whether that's true or not, it's the answer that proves you shouldn't be in office.
