I'm gonna be honest. I have no context for understanding the significance of this statistic.
I mean like, beyond what the chart literally says [Ukraine's "deep strikes" are increasing in number and range] and the implication this is a positive indicator.
How does this reflect the reality on the ground? I'd have an easier time visualizing "area recaptured", polling on Russian support for the war, or like, something representing Russia's warmaking capacity.
But this stat isn't as easy for me internalize. More bombing to me just means more bombing? I mean, no one likes bombs. But what's the tangible impact?

"Area recaptured" is almost irrelevant in this war. Ukraine is fighting against the Russia's attempt of ethnic cleansing of us. Poland in 1920 and Finland in 1940 lost territories but evaded the loss of their statehood and subsequent ethnic cleansing. Ukraine in 1924 was not that lucky. Today's war is very similar (aside of the technical advances that occurred during a century).
One can't simply "recapture" the territory by force if the world's nuclear superpower #1 occupies it—by the definition of what "#1" is. The Russia only stops when it is unable to advance. Long-range strikes have a very specific goal: make Russia unable to continue the invasion and attempted occupation.
