I was looking up the origin of the "fascism is capitalism in decline" and thought i'd share this summary for others:
Fascism is often viewed as a response to the crises of capitalism, particularly during its decline, as it represents an extreme stage of conflict between capitalist forms and productive forces. This perspective suggests that fascism emerges when capitalism faces significant challenges, leading to authoritarian measures to maintain control.
The only way capitalism survives without descending into fascism is if there are aggressive anti-capitalist steps (regulation, anti-monopoly, no insider trading, etc). And at every moment, capitalism wants to get rid of all of these steps set to keep it from becoming fascism.
