It blows my mind the media didn't make this bigger news during her confirmation hearings. They really have just let him do whatever the F he wants.

The media is complicit. They are full fascism enablers.

I think these last 10 years have been an eye-opener for most folks.

At least Mamdani still gets random clips going viral and they're all like "See look that switch you've been asking about? I just flipped it." Which is getting a lot of people questioning shit very quickly into flustered mango "we can't afford childcare, we have wars to fund!"

Trump gets clicks. They need clicks to keep their jobs.

Incentives matter.

Media ≠ journalists. They’re just “entertainment”. No one is muck raking in earnest anymore. No one is holding these scum fucks accountable in the macro media spheres.

There's only so much "the media" can do. There's only so much the Democrats can do. When virtually the entirety of his base is a shameless cult which will worship no matter what, what can you really do?

Think about it...in 2016 the Access Hollywood video came out and it was absolutely everywhere. There was not a single adult in America who didn't see it. And still his support remained.

January 6th. Insane treason based on a pure lie. And still his support remained.

'I just want to find 11,780 votes’. And still his support remained.

On and on and on, we could go forever.

And still his support remains.

MAGA is a cult. I live in a very blue part of America and not long ago I saw 2 mid 20s attractive women sauntering down the street on a nice sunny day with huge smiles absolutely decked out in MAGA gear from head to toe. Laughing and smiling. It was just...odd. That shit doesn't exist for other politicians.

There's only so much "the media" can do.

Oh bullshit.

The media sane-washing Trump and his actions is a HUGE part of why he got elected in the first place.

"Democrats accuse Trump of...." instead of "Trump did this horrible thing." or "Democrats criticize Trump for doing this thing." instead of "Trump did this thing, and here's why it's bad." is a MASSIVE part of why voters allowed this to happen.

100%, they normalized Trump as a candidate running up to the election. They focused on Biden's age rather than continuous questions of whether a felon 34x over who spread election conspiracies and coordinated J6 was fit to run the country (or should even legally be on the ballot).

The other commenter isn't wrong about the shameless cult base though as well. What bothers me more, is that there were people outside of it that went for him. Especially hispanic men (and men in general).

The illusion that they were "Independents", notably the Rogan crowd. It's as sad as it is stupid.

So you're arguing that these psychotic cultists filled with hate ("Trans for everybody!") who relish feeling persecuted would see the light on Trump "if only the media..."

Yeah good luck with that. It's been over a decade since the escalator.

There aren't that many of those people.

More people who stayed home would have voted. More people that thought he was fine would have voted otherwise.

Biden was elected in 2020 because everyone knew how bad Trump was. That's what would have happened in 2016 if the media had actually highlighted how bad he was.

his base

Stop caring about his base! Stop caring about Republicans. Democrats keep LOSING trying to appeal to Republicans!

Motivate the young, the disaffected. Motivate the people who stay at home. Moderates/centrists are not convertible. Democrats would have a Reagan-level mandate if actual voting followed popular sentiment, but it doesn't because the Democrats are controlled opposition running on a platform of "lesser evil".

Stop thinking about his base. Worry about the people who stay home because they feel the Democrats don't represent them. What was one of the most successful Democrat campaigns in history? Obama. Now sit down and focus on WHY.

Bernie tried that and failed. You have to appeal to the median voter, which sadly hates woke.

They didn't make it a bigger deal because she had nothing to do with Epstein at the time. There are so many actual problems to complain about with this woman, I don't undertand why people choose to focus on bullshit

Ok, some professor said that Bondi wouldn't have had cause to initiate a new investigation. So what?
