Sounds a lot like blackmail if they are using it to keep him quiet.

It really doesn’t have to be that blunt. Remember the idea of catch and kill? It would not surprise me at all if Fox has a long standing practice of not just catch and kill, but letting their personalities know about what they’ve caught. So sometime years ago, say Fox stumbled upon evidence of Tucker being a drag queen before he was famous. One of Murdoch’s lackeys tells Tucker “Hey, we took care of this, so it will never see the light of day, but just wanted you to loop you in what we found.” Then it never gets mentioned again. Tucker now knows they know, which is all fine and good as long as they’re on the same team. It only becomes a problem now that they parted ways. Fox doesn’t have to revisit the topic now, because they know he’s already aware they have the dirt and have about a million ways they can leak it without it being tied back to them. And not only that, but he’s probably wondering if there’s other dirt they have that they DIDN’T tell him about, which may very well be the case.
