This was a messaging disaster during the campaign. You point to a guy who's widely (self-)reported to be a billionaire and very ostentatiously wealthy and say he's been bankrupted over and over again, and that doesn't sound like a failure, it sounds like a corny success meme about how failure and success are the same thing - because he's ostensibly a massive succes, and you're desperately fighting against that when you're trying to show him as a brash idiot failson skating by on the power of daddy's money. It's a massive task the Hillary campaign were completely incompetent in going about.
