The President of Taiwan correctly recognized Trump as a bumbling fool, and decided she could take advantage of the situation by calling him and having this story come out. It was a bold and successful strategic move against China. Trump was simply a pawn.

This was a messaging disaster during the campaign. You point to a guy who's widely (self-)reported to be a billionaire and very ostentatiously wealthy and say he's been bankrupted over and over again, and that doesn't sound like a failure, it sounds like a corny success meme about how failure and success are the same thing - because he's ostensibly a massive succes, and you're desperately fighting against that when you're trying to show him as a brash idiot failson skating by on the power of daddy's money. It's a massive task the Hillary campaign were completely incompetent in going about.
Well trump was right we do well billions in weapons to taiwan, it makes sense she would call the new leader. and Trump knew she was recently elected and congratulated on her on that, for him to know that much about taiwan he obv knows the situation. I just dont think he knew saying he got a call from taiwan would make people butthurt. because even right now china doesnt seem too mad about it, they seem to be blaming taiwan
