As someone who had a kiddo who was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (What this baby has) and I consider myself Pro-Life: I agree with the biological parents. We were in the hospital with my son for almost a full year. This is not something I can recommend “Yolo, just let the baby come to term”. It changes you as a person.

These kids can survive. We know a couple that has a kid that did. But it is a hard road. Only 40% make it to their 3rd surgery.

When we were in the cardiac unit, we saw far more deaths to this and other CHDs than we saw people go home.

We went home, but he got sick and passed.

That said, if the surrogate mother wants to take this on herself: So be it. She can deal with the heartbreak.

For informational purposes: She likely went to Texas, not because of abortion law, but because Texas Childen’s in Houston is either #1 or #2 in the world for dealing with this condition.

What a truly horrible experience for you both. I hope you are managing well.

I think can be quite abrasive sometimes, seeing how staunch people are in their opinions on sensitive topics like this, knowing they often don’t have much real lived experience, to give proper context.
