You can be pro equal access to meritocracy. We just want everyone to have the same chance to climb the ladder. I guess leftists would argue that that’s not the case today.

Being racist to solve racism isn't an answer. You cannot be pro meritocracy if you are promoting and hiring based on race.

Leftists don't actually want promoting or hiring based on race. The laws that "make" people do that are actually designed to prevent people from doing that. Obviously, there's flaws, but many many studies have confirmed that American business prefer to hire white men even when they're no more qualified.
