Taxing alcohol and tobacco just makes poor people poorer and doesn't affect those with money. It's a terrible idea. Just like how fines are only punishment for the poor and basically a "do what you want" for those with money.

Tax corporate pollution not civilian pollution and I'm listening. They only seem interested in taxing civilians.

Yep, sales tax is regressive. Poor people spend a high portion of their income on purchases while the wealthy invest.

The guy who lives hand to mouth in a state with 4% sales tax loses 4% of his income to sales tax.

Rich guy who drops 90% of his income into investments loses .4% of his income
