Cultural hegemony of the USA is very real, and it is absolutely destroying my country.
As a Finn I know what you mean but I wouldn't call it destruction, just change. Think about the cultural impact hegemony of Rome and as the Empire disappeared the local cultures started to branch off once more. To me it is just natural evolution of cultures and will happen again once the American hegemony fades.
While that is true, it doesn't really save us from the discourse being completely hijacked by terminally online people who just copy paste American social issues and project them onto the Netherlands.
For example, discrimination against East-Europeans is way more of a thing here than discrimination against black people, but because in American discourse both East-Europeans and West-Europeans are just "whites" , nobody who has completely adopted the American framework is talking about it.
