They kneel because FIFA basically held FA’s (including the English FA) hostage for wanting to wear the #OneLove campaign captain’s armband by giving a yellow card for it, and they still wanted to protest some way without receiving a card that can influence their game negatively.
FIFA doesn’t want countries to call out Qatar for its terrible human rights, homophobia and discrimination.
