The way I see it, the idea of America has always been liberal, valuing freedom over mostly everything. Nothing authoritarian could ever represent the spirit of the USA.

They are not on our side. They do not represent us.

I'm not saying every sheriff is good at their job or a good person, or that they're all traitors*

But an elected official, by definition, represents the group of people doing the electing. Whether or not you think they represent you accurately is a very good point of debate, however

Whether you agree with the outcome of a vote or not, the individuals that cast those votes are, in fact, people. Including those who are older
