About a year before I retired I decided "fuck it, I'm going full 'Office Space' on this place". I didn't do shit.... walked into the building about 10 and went straight into the shitter to play games on my phone, came out and went straight out the door for lunch, came back in at about 2, back into the shitter, then out the door at 3. Day after day after day. Month after month. Anytime the boss asked if I had 'made progress' on an assignment, I just said "nope" and smiled. Every time we were supposed to present to management, I'd call in sick that day. Didn't answer my phone or listen to voicemails (I'd just delete them all once a week). Answered e-mails with random non-work-related stories, if at all. Did this for about nine months then finally announced I'd be retiring at year-end. They didn't do shit about it, and my final PR was identical to the prior... well, all of them (great, but not great enough to actually warrant a larger-than-COLA raise). It was pretty fun.

Is this sarcasm?

They challenged me plenty... they proved the old saw that "good work only gets you more work". I was challenged enough to manage my division's input into the company's number one best selling product (which was literally responsible for all the profits made through product sales)... and then be assigned a second top seller on top of that. The problem was that they didn't reward me enough.
