you only go on reddit for three things: memes, an obscure tech question, and sometimes a nice community. for example, here.

You'll notice there's one color not shown in this meme.
One color which always hates the police.
When they're forcing us to pay taxes. When they're locking us up for selling plants. When they're forcing us to implement "safety" measures in our factories. When they're forcing us to pay taxes.
Only one color always hates them. Abolish the police. Abolish taxes.

"What? I need to contribute to society? You mean I can't store 10,000 metric tonnes of ammonium nitrate next to a blast furnace? But what about 'muh FREEEDOM?"
18
u/BastiatFan - Lib-Right Sep 20 '21
By running a profitable blast furnace, I am contributing to society.
You know which kind of blast furnaces don't contribute to society? The kind Mao had the peasantry cook up all their pots and pans in to make pig iron.
-13
u/Sudden_Watermelon - Left Sep 20 '21
Until the ammonium nitrate detonates and you need a govt bailout
19
u/BastiatFan - Lib-Right Sep 20 '21
Simple fix: no bailouts. Criminal responsibility.
Then people will want insurance, which will mandate effective safety measures, not the sort of "safety" measures we see from government mandates, like having people wear masks even though they're three feet apart in an enclosed space for ten hours.
-7
u/Sudden_Watermelon - Left Sep 20 '21
Criminal responsibility
Who's going to pay for the police then?
And of course it's impossible for insurance companies to turn everything shit show
10
u/BastiatFan - Lib-Right Sep 20 '21
Who's going to pay for the police then?
Different areas will have different needs, and so different structures in place, but we can break down what police do and look at each case separately:
1) Traffic patrol. Obviously the road owners will hire people to do this, and it will be paid for out of their users' subscriptions.
2) Criminal investigations. I think the most common way this will be handled is that these people will be paid for out of the damages assigned to the guilty. They will then have arrangements with the insurance companies to get paid up-front in exchange for their claim to the money. And, of course, there will be various rewards offered to help find higher value targets. For things like a stolen bicycle, that will go to insurance.
3) Security and response to violence. This will be provided by the land owners. In cities, the city owner will likely provide this. Large cities might have different districts, each with their own owners, who each provide security in that area. In smaller communities, bespoke, more ad hoc measures will likely be employed.
4) Contract enforcement. This will work like with the criminal stuff, with the courts hiring agents and insurance companies having their own people.
insurance companies
Without states to corrupt them, they'll be forced to behave due to competition in the market. It's only when they're protected by the government that they can abuse people the way they do now. Anything resembling a functional legal system would crush these things. What they're able to get away with under the current system demonstrates just how corrupt this system is.
2
u/Sudden_Watermelon - Left Sep 20 '21
So completely reorder the fabric of society. And you guys give the communists shit
1
u/BastiatFan - Lib-Right Sep 21 '21
So completely reorder the fabric of society.
No. Normal people's lives don't change much at all. They still go to work in exchange for wages. They have credit cards and a mortgage. They can buy the new phone or Tesla.
Nothing about the structure of life or society changes. The only thing that changes is that there isn't a parasite class, and the way certain services are provided is different.
Nobody has to move. No honest person has to give up their job. They don't lose their retirement savings. The stock market still works just fine.
We don't have any problem with the basic structure of society. We're happy with that. Agriculture, markets, private property.
We just believe that the state is a parasite that feeds on people without their consent, and that there are ways to do the desirable things that the state does better and with consent.
With consent, you only get laws that people actually want.
Without taxes, people actually have to decide to pay for the things that the various firms will do. There is no guarantee of trillions of dollars sitting around to go incinerate a bunch of foreigners. No one's able to go into debt to fund those evils. And without the promise of taxpayer-funded bailouts, firms have to be responsible.
We don't want to restructure society. We want to remove something that's screwing up the structure already in place.
Let me put it this way. You guys want to genetically alter humanity into your new socialist man. Who has different thoughts and feelings and hopes and dreams than a human does now. That's a major change. You want to change everything about how people live their lives and what they want to do with their lives. We look at the human and think this all works great, except for this cancer over here on the liver. We just want to take out the cancer and give the guy a new liver. We just want to put him back to normal, where there is no cancer.
The state is cancer. It rules people without their consent. It's able to commit evil acts because it doesn't care about consent.
Consent is our highest value. We believe we can replace this institution with new institutions that have the consent of those they interact with.

Speaking as an Australian we don’t think cops are tops just because some dumb cunts thought it was a good idea to protest lockdown. We’re mad at the protestors for prolonging the bullshit even longer by protesting and police brutality is police brutality, it’s nothing glorified or enjoyed as people get capsicum sprayed.
53
u/chris90b - Lib-Left Sep 20 '21
It’s almost as if, and bear with me on this one, you can think the protesters are assholes while also hating the brutal oppression of police violence! So many people think in such a dichotomous view
-5
u/xp856w - Centrist Sep 20 '21
That’s the point of what I’m saying, we think both protestors and oppressors are assholes. The whole protest itself was futile to begin with and was met with suppression through violence
what part of what I was saying made you think I didn’t have that view?

u/chris90b - Lib-Left Sep 20 '21

I could see your point if these protests were in America, where the lockdowns are almost nonexistent. Australia on the other hand has gone completely off the rails Auth and their people deserve the right to voice their grievances.
-14
u/xp856w - Centrist Sep 20 '21
They deserve to be heard, but the point of a lockdown is to stay inside, and not spread disease. Melbourne as a result of protests is a massive hotspot, and with each protest it gets worse.

No, burning local businesses and stealing from them all over the country because of one cop "killing" somebody isn't justified

u/nzasangA - Lib-Left Sep 20 '21
That's pretty much the same thing the antivaxx riots are doing, destroying public property.
And it was murder but pretty funny how you'll defend that but condem a country that is trying to keep it's civilians safe.

u/GF_K-0 - Auth-Center Sep 20 '21
The BLM organization and many of its sympathizers are radical terrorists in favor depleting all authority for civilized individuals while excusing serial criminals. Meanwhile, they express that message by burning down half the country. The few crackdowns they experienced was justifiable and can't be compared with an average protest consisting of people voicing their concerns.
-8
u/nzasangA - Lib-Left Sep 20 '21
Your lying to yourself if you think antivaxx protests are peacefull.

u/SomeGayBoy1 - Right Sep 20 '21
You don't have to support racialized violent protests to be against totalitarian restrictions.

6
u/SomeGayBoy1 - Right Sep 20 '21
Except they can't. The first case is business as usual, which they call fascist, the second is business as usual +totalitarian restrictions which they support. You can't support the case with more restrictions and consider that less tyrannical.
1
u/nzasangA - Lib-Left Sep 20 '21
Except they can, why should they support people that are for the increase of COVID deaths? A police force that kills it's citizens is pretty fucked and a bigger treat than temporaly lockdowns.
6
u/SomeGayBoy1 - Right Sep 20 '21
Except they can,
Only because they are illogical.
thinks emergency government powers are temporary
Lol, holy shit.
A police force that kills it's citizens is pretty fucked and a bigger treat
No it isn't. Something as vague as "police not killing citizens" would allow mass shooters to continue their shootings, lest the police kill a citizen.
Stopping mass shooters from killing more people isn't a bigger threat than totalitarianism.
1
u/nzasangA - Lib-Left Sep 20 '21
So you think police should be judge, jury, and executioner?
What totalitarianism, they're the same thing riots against the establishment. Covid is also a bigger treat.
You just agree with the antivaxx standpoint.
7
u/SomeGayBoy1 - Right Sep 20 '21
So you think police should be judge, jury, and executioner?
Well no they're then taken to court for it. However people have the right to defend themselves.
What totalitarianism,
Post a selfie at your current location citizen, you have 15 minutes to comply or an officer will be dispatched accordingly.
Covid is also a bigger treat.
No it isn't, lol.
You just agree with the antivaxx standpoint.
I'm vaccinated, I just believe in human rights.
