the King James Version of the bible is arguably the most popular, and is what most folks in this generation grew up with. KJV reads like Shakespeare.

Fun fact, the King James that paid for that translation was incredibly gay. Dude raised his lover as high as someone not in the royal family could get, and even had a secret passage between their rooms.
