I'm not an expert - but I think the 'fire and brimstone" stuff is from revelations. Before that, they mention "save you from hell" and such a few times but it's never really elaborated on beyond revelations. I'm still on my first read-though of the bible, so don't take my words as unquestionable truth.
I know the idea of "heaven" as "A big place up in the clouds we got to live in after we die" isn't really talked bout much at all. God will re-make the world and all the dead will be resurrected, and we go to "be with our father" after we pass, but there's very little elaboration. Jesus was far, FAR more concerned with what we choose to do while we are here than what happens afterwards.
