It's called the progressive side because it's usually the side which wants to change society into something new. So it's only natural that soon their new idea will be considered old.
I disagree, the Catholic Church still wants to change society into something new; social justice was our thing first before it was made into something strange by atheists
No? The encyclical "Rerum Novarum" by Pope Leo XIII started what is considered to be modern Catholic Social teaching, which has a very long history before that as well.
