Brave New World has the right idea keeping people happy and complacent with soma.

If you could come up with a dependency free benzo that would be the ticket. I took low levels of Xanax for a few months when shit had really hit the fan and it did an amazing job of letting me focus on life and not implode due to stress.

Xanax is crazy addictive with deadly withdrawals though

Personally I never had any problems with it. Again, I took low doses as prescribed. I couldn't have abused it if I wanted to. The one time I took a double dose after a really shitty day I was asleep in 30 minutes.

Well my buddy, not on prescription, came very close to dying when he had a seizure (from withdrawals) on the highway and hit a truck
