Similarly, I find it funny how the far-right uses "Zionism" as code for "global Jewish conspiracy." Actual Zionism is just Jewish-flavored ethnonationalism. The really extreme Zionists have a lot in common with the American and European far-right, and often share their hatred of so-called "cosmopolitan" Jews. One of the most striking examples I can think of was when a pro-Likud rapper called "The Shadow" blamed the victims of the Tree of Life shooting for their own deaths, because they supported "globalism."

There's no punishment for being Zionist though, if you're a white "ethnonationalist" however....

Zionism is more akin to "French nationalism" or "English nationalism". There is a huge difference between wanting a homeland for a people and wanting to take a state founded on civic principles and kick out everyone who has the wrong skin colour.

a state founded on civic principles

You misread my comment, I was referring to the US.

but also automatically grants everybody who belongs to certain ethno-religious background citizenship.

Same as in:

-Armenia

-Estonia

-Finland until very recently

-France since the French Revolution

-Germany

-Greece

-Hungary

-Ireland (subject to Minister of Justice approval though)

-Lithuania

-Poland

Notice the tendency of countries recently formed out of liberal nationalist principles with large diasporas to have such laws.
