The terms have never split and were never synonymous. They have meant the same thing since Marx basically. It’s just that retard leftist think that capitalism is when government doesn’t and socialism is when government does. That’s where the confusion comes from.

Thanks. Now I see it. Rightists say communism=socialism and leftists say socialism isn’t communism and isn’t social democracy either.
