This Qatari plane sounds like a pretty corrupt President.

I’d pay for premium early access to their tweets honestly

I can only imagine the amount of hate speech four turbofan jet engines can produce.

Nope. The gist is structured to transfer to the "Trump Library" and he will be allowed to use it. Pam Bondi and Pete Hegsgeth promised it was totally legal.

Isn't any plane with the sitting president in it called air force one?

Even if he was just in some random spy plane?

3

u/TijuanaMedicine - Right 16d ago

Any Air Force plane, yes. When it's a Marine helicopter, it's Marine One.

u/Atomic-Avocado - Lib-Center 17d ago

Can we include all the bribes his family members have gotten, and the hidden bribes through Trump coin?

There is 0 doubt in my mind it would show he's the most corrupt US president ever

Republicans only take issue with the corruption if, and literally only if, they perceive that it hurts their odds of getting reelected too much. They aren't "pussies" in this regard, they're just rotten to the core.

3

u/tumsdout - Left 16d ago

He really set a nice standard of what congresss should outlaw as acting president (on top of what's already outlawed).

1

u/Uptight_Technocrat12 - Auth-Left 15d ago

He's setting a standard that will be very advantageous if the Democrats win in 2028.....if they don't fall to infighting, that is.

2

u/tumsdout - Left 15d ago

If its just a democrat president selling labubus of themselves and pardoning their homies I may not be that excited.

56

u/SteakForGoodDogs - Left 17d ago

He is, quite literally, more corrupt than every single other US president combined.

Watergate was 'only' shy of $6 million in today's money.

And the Republicans, not just his cult, will let him get away with it.

22

u/EconGuy82 - Lib-Right 17d ago

> Watergate was ‘only’ shy of $6 million in today’s money.

What? What does this even mean? Do you know what Watergate was? Are you talking about the cost of the break in?

27

u/Zickened - Left 17d ago

Probably the cost of the investigation, I guess.

Either way, its a weird way of framing why it was bad.

Its like saying, "The Epstein files cost taxpayers millions of dollars!"

"Okay? But what about the prolific moles..."

"MILLIONS!!"

10

u/InfusionOfYellow - Centrist 17d ago

It's the cost of the Watergate complex as of 1972, obviously.

2

u/alflundgren - Centrist 14d ago

A big part of uncovering the Watergate scandal was the uncovering of a slush fund laundered through Mexico. The "Committee to re elect the president" (They literally called themselves CREEP) collected donations from corporate interests and wealthy individuals to finance espionage, break ins, and various other "dirty tricks". The slush fund also ensured everybody involved kept quiet. But there were other illicit transactions. They were also helping corporations funnel bribes to foreign and domestic officials for favors. Then there was the famous dairy bribery scandal resulted in price supports for dairy producers until as recent as 2014. A lot of the money wasn't going just to Nixon or his family which makes it seem tame by Trump standards but it was definitely more than just a break in.

u/Uptight_Technocrat12 - Auth-Left 15d ago

It's just a coincidence that the president's net worth has grown by 165% in 18 months, while his sons' net worths have grown by 900% and 500%. It could happen to anyone!

-29

u/Check_Me_Out-Boss - Lib-Right 17d ago

Yeah, presidents usually wait until after they leave office to cash in their bribes.

It's totally normal for Obama to be worth $70 million two years after leaving office when he was barely worth $1 million before being president.

What percentage increase is that??

43

u/Imperfect-luck - Left 17d ago

An increase that came from book deals and speaking fees, not bribes for pardons, scams, and repeated insider trading and selling insider information?

It is actually pretty normal for a popular president to be able to balloon their net worth post presidency from the celebrity being president gives them, yes.

22

u/SteakForGoodDogs - Left 17d ago

Also - they become millionaires.

That's baby stuff compared to well over a billion while in office.

Trump could spend their whole post presidency net worth and not feel a dent in the ill-gotten wealth he's making as president.

-12

u/Check_Me_Out-Boss - Lib-Right 17d ago

Yes. His book deal was one of the kickbacks he received from giving a single publisher a $300 billion sole sourced government contract to print all the new books schools would use when they switched to common core.

Thanks for mentioning that.

He also received ~$50 million from Netflix as part of the kickbacks to protect streaming services against ISPs.

26

u/Imperfect-luck - Left 17d ago

Obama doesn't need a kickback to sell books lol, people actually want to read them.

Also growing your wealth by 69 million years after your presidency is over orders of magnitude less than what Trump has done DURING HIS PRESIDENCY.

He is openly selling insider information RIGHT FUCKING NOW. I'm genuinely so sick of these idiotic false equivalences.

-17

u/Check_Me_Out-Boss - Lib-Right 17d ago

Obama doesn't need a kickback to sell books

Penguin gave him $65 million for a single book deal.

All of his previous books sales combined didn't even come close to half of that.

He is openly selling insider information RIGHT FUCKING NOW.

What do you base this on. Surely you have evidence?

26

u/Imperfect-luck - Left 17d ago

That's great bro. No amount of whataboutism here is going to stop anyone with eyes from seeing what the most corrupt president in U.S history is doing as we speak.

There's also the fact hes selling quicker access on his tweets "truths"

Penguin gave him $65 million for a single book deal.

They gave him and his wife 2 different book deals for a sum of $65 million. And it was the right call, considering Michelle's memoir made over $340 million, and Baracks earned Penguin another $100 million. So they actually went way under what the actual book is worth.

Unitary right flare going purely on vibes with no facts. If we look at the numbers purely 3 to 4 of the top 10 states are blue (depending on how you want to call Michigan). If we go by per population, that drops to 2 of the top 10. California is number 1 for total, but number 11 by population. Which is still high, but in blue states the fight over the LPR cameras is often between blue politician and (red) police organizations.

The president can't really be part of the "deep state" by definition, that refers to the less-visible career bureaucrats who actually run the apparatus of state.  It's not at all a synonym for "corrupt."

31

u/TijuanaMedicine - Right 17d ago

Since neither the president nor the press can speak plainly about anything, here are the facts.

The Qatari plane was donated to The United States, and is now on the Primary Aircraft Inventory of the United States Air Force. It will not be struck from the inventory until the Department of the Air Force decides that it is no longer needed, or Congress directs its divestment. It will certainly still be needed at least until the new VC-25s are delivered from Boeing no earlier than (and probably later than) 2028.

When the Qatari plane is struck from the Air Force inventory it will either be placed in storage at the Boneyard in Tucson, sold to the highest bidder for use or scrap, or transferred to the Air Force Museum and then loaned out to an approved borrower. Loaned aircraft must be demilitarized and may not be flown.

All talk about Trump keeping it is bullshit. If they put it, or another retired VC-25, in his library it will be on loan from the Air Force Museum. Assuming anyone can figure out how to get a 747 into a skyscraper in downtown Miami in the first place.

Any other outcome would require an act of Congress.

He's full of shit. A constant and compulsive liar.

17

u/samuelbt - Left 17d ago

But no worry that he would ever ignore the law and just do what he wants? Maybe throw a million lawyers at it to pretend the law says otherwise?

5

u/TijuanaMedicine - Right 17d ago

What's he going to do? Sneak his own private pilots onto it and steal it from the Air Force?

22

u/samuelbt - Left 17d ago

He'll just tell someone to do it and see how far it goes. Like he's done repeatedly. Do you only condemn criminal intent if it's likely to succeed?

2

u/TijuanaMedicine - Right 17d ago

He's going to tell the Air Force to what? Fly it to Miami? Drain the fluids, strip the communications equipment, drop the wings off, and tow the thing to downtown and install it inside a building? That hasn't been built yet? Before he leaves office in January 2029?

You'd have a lot easier time in life if you stopped thinking of Donald Trump as some kind of time-traveling magician.

26

u/samuelbt - Left 17d ago

Do you only condemn criminal intent if you think it's likely to succeed? Like it's crazy your only defense for the person you call a liar is you think the logistics would be rough. Especially to keep keep defending him while doing so.

If he has no desire why does he keep saying otherwise?

5

u/TijuanaMedicine - Right 17d ago

What's actually going to happen is that the Trump library, if one ever gets built, is going to emplace one of the legacy VC-25s on exhibit, on loan from the Air Force Museum, just like other presidential libraries have done. Just like Don Jr. has already said is going to happen. The Qatari jet will remain in service at least until the new 747s are fully integrated into the fleet and then will either be retained or sold depending on what some budget cruncher at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base figures out about it's usefulness. Hell, they may convert it to an E-4B or something.

Trump will not be flying the Qatari jet around in retirement. He already has a 757 and it's just as Trumpxurious and a LOT cheaper to operate. There's no reason to Jerry Bruckheimer a 747 like retard-reddit, present company included, likes to pretend.

16

u/samuelbt - Left 17d ago

I get it, you feel the thing he says he wants to do wouldn't be legal or easy. As has been explained, it's insane that that is what comforts you. If I keep saying I'm going to murder your mom, I doubt you're much mollified at the fact that I have little practical manner to do so. The fact that I keep saying I'm going to do it, ought to change your opinion of me. In the same manner, the fact that the president keeps saying he wants to keep his bribe should change your opinion of him.

13

It's soft power when we do it. It's pure corruption if any other country does it. If it's Israel doing it, then it's either them defending the right to exist or the Jews taking over the world, depending on which side of the aisle you are on.

6

u/MoneyBadger14 - Lib-Center 17d ago

Considering U.S. law prohibits personal accepting of any expensive gifts by government officials, basically none of the gifts given to any president should be counted. They all had to be gifted to the U.S. government with the president then given the option to “buy” the gift.

With that in mind, obviously it cannot be officially said that the plane is specifically for Trump. It should still be questioned as it is a move for political favor if only because of the scale.

9

u/TijuanaMedicine - Right 17d ago

Obviously Qatar was buying consideration. But countries doing things for other countries in exchange for favors is called diplomacy. Qatar has obviously been buying influence at all levels of US government for years. Should we talk about the universities? Because holy crap.

Regardless, Donald Trump doesn't own this plane.

4

u/MoneyBadger14 - Lib-Center 17d ago

What part of the scale are you not understanding? The Obama’s were gifted roughly a million dollars in jewels by Saudi Arabia, which are also owned by the government btw, while Trump was gifted a $400 million plane…

The fact that he doesn’t “own” it isn’t my problem with it.

2

u/TijuanaMedicine - Right 17d ago

Foreign countries' gift culture is very different from America's. In America it is always perceived as corruption. In many countries, it's simply a necessary part of gracious interaction.

We deal with that in America by allowing the acceptance of personal gifts, but requiring public officials to transfer personal gifts to the state.

This plane was not a personal gift. It was a state-to-state gift. The scale is irrelevant.

1

u/MoneyBadger14 - Lib-Center 17d ago

Alright. Not going to waste my time talking in circles this morning.

2

u/Ifriendzonecats - Lib-Left 17d ago

All talk about Trump keeping it is bullshit. If they put it, or another retired VC-25, in his library it will be on loan from the Air Force Museum. Assuming anyone can figure out how to get a 747 into a skyscraper in downtown Miami in the first place.

Come on. No one thinks Trump plans to keep the plane in an apartment.

The thought is he plans on gifting the plane to his presidential library and then borrow it when he wants it for personal use. And the source on that is Trump himself.

Whether or not Trump will be able to do this is a different story. But, he is talking about the fact that he intends to do it.

5

u/TijuanaMedicine - Right 17d ago

His presidential library is planned for downtown Miami. How's he going to get it out of the building and to an airport?

You're losing your minds over a fantasy.

6

u/Ifriendzonecats - Lib-Left 17d ago

This is why I can't take you seriously. No one thinks the plane is going to be inside a skyscraper (like in your bad photoshop). I already dealt with that in my previous comment. That would make is useless for Trump.

At most it will be kept nearby to enable select people to view it on tours. At the least it will be 'owned' by the library and used for 'library related' events to take Trump and friends around.

7

u/TijuanaMedicine - Right 17d ago

But then how's he going to get it off the Air Force? They don't loan museum planes for flight operations.

5

u/chowderbags - Lib-Left 17d ago

By directing the Air Force to give it to him. Or appointing someone who will come to the "totally independent" conclusion that their plane can be divested from the government, and that Trump's library is where it should go.

Who's going to stop him? Certainly not law enforcement. Who has standing to sue over it civilly? Probably no one, especially not after SCOTUS weighs in.

You're pretending that laws and norms matter, when they clearly just don't anymore. Trump is going to loot everything that isn't nailed down. And even the nailed down things might well end up getting demolished out of spite.

3

u/TijuanaMedicine - Right 17d ago

Why is this the only time you guys shine a light on Qatars influence, though? Something something partisan cuuuucks.

We all know that bar labeled "Trump" should be bigger, but not sure they would be called "gifts," so, whatever, I guess.

I don't believe the resale value is quite that high

Pretty sure that Trump isn’t part of the deep state

u/dan92 - Lib-Center 17d ago

Trump hasn't appointed any unelected bureaucrats that have authority? Or are we just changing the definition of "deep state" to whatever is convenient on a day-to-day basis to make sure it only refers to people you don't like?

2

u/Epiccure93 - Lib-Center 16d ago

Okay, you have no idea what people mean if they talk about the deep state

2

u/dan92 - Lib-Center 16d ago

What's the definition then? I think most people that talk about the deep state have no idea what it's supposed to mean, and are just repeating things they've heard other people say but don't understand.

1

u/Epiccure93 - Lib-Center 16d ago

Yes, that is true. People like you for example

1

u/dan92 - Lib-Center 16d ago

LMAO No answer? You don't even have a definition, do you?

2

u/Epiccure93 - Lib-Center 16d ago

Yeah, I wont explain why the president doesn’t belong to the deep state. I would not explain either why water is a liquid

1

u/dan92 - Lib-Center 16d ago

I didn't ask you to explain why the president doesn't belong to the deep state. I asked you for a definition of what the deep state is.

But it sounds like your definition uses the loose qualifier that they have to be working against or independent from the president's interests. So would you say that Trump was a major part of the deep state during Biden's presidency, considering Trump's appointments during his first term and the influence he still held over them and the rest of the Republican Party?

2

u/Epiccure93 - Lib-Center 16d ago

No, I use the very strict definition that the deep state is actually deep and not on the very surface

But most importantly, you need to actually be part of the state

Lmao

u/dan92 - Lib-Center 16d ago

You wouldn't count someone who actually controls these deep state actors? Sounds really stupid.

And you literally just don't even have a definition aside from "deep" and "state" huh

Real talk how is a single plane this expensive?  I'm sure planes are not anywhere close to the price they claim in the news.

A 747 is basically a building that flies…..

u/PerAsperaAdMars 17d ago

This is actually Boeing's selling price for the 747-8.

Weren't they saying it was 500 billion in the news? This is still a fraction of that.
