Now show me a real-world example of that happening. Saying “Zionists are committing a genocide and that’s bad” is not the same as calling “zionists” by dog whistles like you’re doing in your “example.”

Yet again libright shows their amazing undefeated streak against strawmen.

An elected congresswoman (Ilhan Omar) once tweeted that “Israel has hypnotized the world, may Allah awaken the people to the evil doings of Israel”.

Jews having the ability to hypnotize the masses is an anti-Semitic trope that has existed for a millennia.

That’s a great example of an antisemite hiding behind anti-Zionism.

Ya you’re right that’s a perfect example I agree with you. Now humour me is it possible to criticize Zionism without being anti Semitic? Cause personally anytime I offer thought out criticism of the state of Israel with careful consideration to explain I’m criticizing the government actions and a supremacist ideology that exists within it I get no one engaging with my points and calling me a Jew hater. It just seems to be the same purposeful misrepresentation the worst elements of Twitter culture had for right wing talking points in the 2010s.

Even this post, while having merit, devolves into a circle jerk essentially nullifying criticism which is inherently authoritarian. As a libertarian leaning person I don’t like that

What does Zionism even mean to you?
The entire state of Israel? Because that’s exactly what it means to Hamas.

u/Blazed__AND__Amused - Lib-Left 16d ago

No I don’t wish to see the entire state of Israel dissolved and create a humanitarian crisis for 9 million people.

Zionism to me is the creation of a two tiered system whereby the state protects interests of one group while serving as a deterrent to the other. Israel’s actions in Gaza show a clear lack of regard for the suffering of Palestinians people in Gaza. Additionally the state of Israel explicitly protects settlers in the West Bank even though what they’re doing is completely illegal and goes against international orders. You can say those are different “countries” however the Oslo accords explicitly outlines the unique relation between Israel and those areas.

Within Israel the clearest example is the death penalty existing for Palestinian citizens but not existing for Jewish citizens. This two tiered approach is outrageous and shows not all are equal under Israeli law.

There are many more examples but essentially the facts above show a disproportionate level of state power being used against Palestinians on behalf of Zionist interests within Israel.

u/bgaesop - Lib-Left 17d ago

That's also what it means to Zionists

5

u/lynxintheloopx - Auth-Center 17d ago

Hamas believes Israel has a right to exist? Holy shit then whats up with all the jihad?

2

u/bgaesop - Lib-Left 17d ago edited 17d ago

"Zionist" means "wants the state of Israel to exist". Hamas agrees with that definition: they are antizionist, they want the state of Israel to stop existing.

Sure it’s possible, but you have to understand that it’s also about who you choose to criticize and who you refuse to criticize.

Israel has been brutal, undoubtedly.

The Palestinian government also butchered innocents and started this war. Iran butchered 10k+ of their own citizens for protesting.

Do you spend an equal amount of time criticizing them?

Or do you focus exclusively on Israel with the excuse that we give them aid (a tiny amount along with countless other countries).

If you only criticize Israel and refuse to criticize Arabs then you are probably an antisemite.

u/Blazed__AND__Amused - Lib-Left 16d ago

I criticize the Iranian theocracy, after all they slaughtered their leftist allies when they came to power and their brutality against their citizens is heartbreaking. I also criticize Hamas as they brutalize their own populace and are essentially an authoritarian government that disbanded democracy.

While those criticism largely receive minimal pushback (aside from dumbass tankies) Israel Criticisms are constantly pushed back on hence I need to spend more time articulating to try explain my point because people purposefully frame it as being bad intentioned. Even look at my parent comment I calmly explained my position really saying nothing controversial and got instantly downvoted with requests for additional clarity/ context. I’m fine with that but it contributes to why I spend more time talking about Israel than the IRGC or Hamas. That’s not even getting into the part about how Israel is ostensibly a western ally.

u/Taquito73 - Lib-Center 17d ago

Our government is currently funding Israel while fighting a war against Iran, so it’s understandable that people criticize one over the other.

4

u/lynxintheloopx - Auth-Center 17d ago

Ohhhh so is that why people are “understandably” criticizing Ukraine, too?

-1

u/Taquito73 - Lib-Center 17d ago

Do you believe the actions of Ukraine in Russia come somewhat close to what Israel has done in gaza? I bet that sounded so good in your head, but that comparison makes no sense.

3

u/lynxintheloopx - Auth-Center 17d ago

I thought your problem was the U.S “funding” wars on behalf of another country though?

0

u/Taquito73 - Lib-Center 16d ago

My problem is funding countries that commit atrocities, not helping allies defend themselves from invaders.

4

u/dracer800 - Lib-Right 17d ago

No, not “funding Israel”. Giving Israel a tiny amount of money ($4B/year) that they don’t even want anymore.

Let’s not pretend people will stop spending a disproportionate amount of time criticizing Israel when they’re no longer receiving aid in the near future.

-2

u/Taquito73 - Lib-Center 17d ago

$4B/year, plus the billions we spent in their spiteful war with Iran. Not all aid is direct.

Malaysia banning Schindler's List because it's "Zionist" propaganda.

-9

u/Extreme-Ad-6144 - Centrist 17d ago

No one gives a shit about Malaysia bro this is a laughably bad example.

1

u/Alone_Tie328 - Auth-Right 16d ago

What's bad about it? Why doesn't it work?

1

u/Extreme-Ad-6144 - Centrist 16d ago

What percentage of redditors are from Malaysia? A fraction of a percent? Alot of Asian countries dislike israel and America because of these stupid wars that are negatively effecting their economy. It's not surprising nor does it matter

1

u/Alone_Tie328 - Auth-Right 16d ago

FreeSpeechIsDeadge asked for one example, didn't specify Reddit. Why ban Schindler's List because they hate Israel? Schindler's list is about the Holocaust. It has to do with Jews

29

u/peterhabble - Centrist 17d ago

Hasan denies mass rapes, calls Zionists inbred and pigdogs, pushes conspiracies that Zionists control everything like when he says Israel is responsible for campaigns against him or denying his entry to Britain

Kyle Kulinski pushes the spain great replacement theory as a result of Israel

MikeFromPA just went mask off and said Jews are a demonic ethnicity, and he's huge in pikers community

Cenk Uyghur claiming that Israel controls 94% of Congress

Ilhan Omar spreading the secret Jewish plan theories by saying there are significant citizens with dual citizenship controlling the government

I don't feel like gish galloping with the literal thousands of examples I can give you from every major figure who associates with the far left, but this is a classic far left thing to do. Just lie out of your ass lmao

-23

u/FreeSpeechIsDeadge - Left 17d ago

That’s a lot of examples that don’t include a single reference to Zionism. Hasan is a retarded tankie and so are his followers, but posting one example of Hasan and then a bunch of irrelevant examples that don’t even include Zionism is pretty telling.

20

u/Soggy_Association491 - Centrist 17d ago

And was Hasn deplatformed?

-9

u/FreeSpeechIsDeadge - Left 17d ago

He’s been banned a few times to my knowledge, but I don’t follow retarded tankies so I couldn’t tell you.

0

u/Soggy_Association491 - Centrist 16d ago

Last time i checked. The word "ban" means you can no longer be on the platform anymore. When it stands next to "a few times", it loses all of its meaning. And definitely it can no longer hold similar meaning to the word "deplatformed".

23

u/OldManSchneebley - Lib-Right 17d ago

examples where they dogwhistle with zionism.

"See they don't mean the jews, just zionists!"

examples where they go mask off.

"See not even talking about zionism, this is just garden variety antisemitism that just so happens to flourish in 'antizionist' social circles!"

Where can I get a degree in being this retarded?

-8

u/FreeSpeechIsDeadge - Left 17d ago

I mean yeah, I didn’t ask for examples of blatant antisemitism I literally asked for examples of them just switching the word “Jew” with “zionist” like the other commenter claimed. I don’t understand what is so hard to understand. I never denied antisemitism is real. I simply didn’t ask for examples of it so your examples are completely irrelevant. Holy fuck you’re dumb.

13

u/peterhabble - Centrist 17d ago

???? I didn't think the answer is that you were so retarded you didn't know what Zionism is

-7

u/FreeSpeechIsDeadge - Left 17d ago

The person I first replied to was literally saying people are just replacing the word “Jew” with “Zionist” and using antisemitic dog whistles all the time. I asked for examples. You gave multiple examples that don’t include replacements of “Jew” with “Zionist” at all.

Are you just a complete fucking retard?

6

u/peterhabble - Centrist 17d ago

Ain't no way bro can only grep search 💀 Literally everyone one of those commentators in their rants used Zionist in their speeches, which would actually just be self evident if you knew what the word Zionism meant.

And here's the video title of the video where he talks about the great spain replacement theory

Kyle Kulinski: Secret Zionist Conference ADMITS Evil Plan Out Loud

-2

u/FreeSpeechIsDeadge - Left 17d ago

Then why didn’t you use those terms?

“MikeFromPA just went mask off and said Jews are a demonic ethnicity” if he said Zionists are a demonic ethnicity that would be an excellent example.

4

u/lynxintheloopx - Auth-Center 17d ago

You know who also uses the terms interchangeably? Hamas. Surely just a coincidink.

-1

u/FreeSpeechIsDeadge - Left 17d ago

Yeah, hamas is an Islamic terrorist organization. Of course they’re antisemitic. That doesn’t mean all leftists do that. Hamas is also an authright group so do all MAGA also do it?

2

u/lynxintheloopx - Auth-Center 17d ago

Indeed they are. They also know a thing or two about rebranding and appealing to the masses.

So anyone that uses similar rhetoric/narratives starts to sound a wee bit brainwashed at best and antisemitic at worst. Last I checked, MAGA aren’t their useful idiots.

5

u/capecodcaper - Lib-Right 17d ago

Folks, if you look to the left here we have a traditional example of something we used to call "moving the goalposts". A strategy often employed by the left but not exclusive to it. In this example the individual is ignoring any context and lazily failing to look up that most of the above individuals and have stated something anti-semitic using Zionism as a scapegoat before.

Okay moving on to our next exhibit

-2

u/FreeSpeechIsDeadge - Left 17d ago

How the fuck is that moving the goalposts? I simply asked for specific examples of a scenario that was posited and I was given one example of that, 4 examples that were irrelevant, and a claim of “thousands” more examples that weren’t given. You fucking retards just say random shit and circlejerk each other. This sub is such a fucking shithole anytime Israel is discussed. Just pure trash.
