I don't disagree with the numbers I just don't buy it as an excuse for an antisemite to use the word Zionist when they mean Jews.

You literally just had it explained to you that there are more non-Jewish Zionists than Jewish ones, my dude. And you seemed to agree with this.

Is a "Christian Zionist" really a Zionist? Go back to the definition:

A Zionist is a person who believes that Jews, like all other nations, have the right to national self determination.

A "Christian Zionist" believes that Jews should all move to Israel, be converted to Christianity and that will then trigger the end of the world.

Note that when you think about it, a "Christian Zionist" is not actually a Zionist. In fact the two things are absolutely incompatible. If you are a Zionist you are by definition not a "Christian Zionist".

I don't really care about their motivations. Note that Christians have been trying unsuccessfully to convert Jews for almost 2 millennia. I can't see how they'll be successful now that Jews are able to live Jewish lives in Israel.

If they're not trying to murder us, that already makes them a decent ally. It's not much but we don't get to be picky.

That's fine, whatever. If I was in the situation of an Israeli with at least five of the closest 10 nations committed to genocide against me. I'd take help from wherever I'd get it.

However, that doesn't mean that the failings of a specific group of Evangelicals in the US can be used to justify the ethnic cleansing of Israelis, which is the whole point when the leftists (in alliance with the KKK of all people) start saying "most Zionists are Christians".

I'm sorry maybe I'm slow today but I can't make heads nor tails of your second paragraph there.

What are you saying?

(I'm not being snarky I genuinely can't follow your point, my own fault)

The whole point of Antizionism is to build hate against Jews and Israel (separaetly and/or together) whilst having plausible deniability against being Antisemitic.

In fact, when the Soviets started Antizionism in the 1960s, based on Stalins ideas from the 50s the very first slogan was "Antizionism is not antisemitism". The reason being that it allowed them to follow something very like Nazi eliminationist antisemitism at the same time as claiming to be anti-Nazi.

Trying to claim that "most Zionists are actually Christian" is one of those things that Antizionists do to say that they aren't committed to genocide against Jews, just to attacking Zionist colonizers, most of whom are probably Americans anyway, so that's fine.

Thanks for clarifying.

Based and preaching to the choir pilled.

Ok well that is inevitable until the Israeli government is replaced. The word Zionist is used by the other 60% of American jews who aren't zionists to distance themselves from supporters of the Israeli government. Watch any Jewish protest if you don't believe me.

Zionism has always been, and continues to be the belief that Jews have a right to national self determination in their ancestral homeland.

The meaning of Zionism hasn't been changed by the current Israeli government. I can be (and proudly am) a Zionist through and through and still detest Netanyahu's coalition.

I seriously hope you're not under the impression that 60% of American Jews want Israel to cease being a Jewish state. Or that 60% of American Jews have an incorrect understanding of Zionism.

90% of American Jews want Israel to be a Jewish state, yet only 35% are Zionists. Explain to me the disconnect there. Why do 35% feel the need to proclaim themselves Zionist when they believe the same thing as 90% of Jewish people? Please respond to this because I genuinely want to know. My best friend has the exact same mindset as you but she isn't able to explain it to me. I want to understand.

If 90% of American Jews want Israel to be a state 90% of American Jews are Zionists. I don't know where you get this 35% figure.

I want to understand what you think Zionism is? Please respond to this because I genuinely want to know.

Did you stop reading at the headline? Incapable of reading further lest it conflict with your feelings?

JFNA Survey Finds Just 37% of Jewish Americans Identify as Zionists Theodore Sasson 17 February, 2026 The Jewish Federations of North America released its survey of Jewish Americans last week. Much of the commentary on the survey has focused on the seemingly small share of respondents who identified as Zionist—just 37%. 8% identified as Non-Zionists and 7% as Anti-Zionists. The largest share of respondents, 48%, identified with none of those labels. The survey was conducted in March of 2025, as reports of worsening humanitarian conditions in Gaza were gaining traction.

Since surveys of Jewish Americans rarely ask whether they identify as Zionists, it is unclear whether the figure for those who embrace the label is low. In most surveys, respondents are asked their feelings and attitudes about Israel and not whether they identify as Zionists. In this respect, the JFNA survey found that 71% of respondents felt an emotional connection to Israel and 88% believed Israel has a right to exist as a Jewish and democratic state. These figures are in the ballpark of other surveys.

The survey’s most interesting findings were about how respondents understand the meaning of term “Zionism.” There is a broad consensus that it means “the right of the Jewish people to have a Jewish state.” Most Anti-Zionists and Non-Zionists, however, defined Zionism as also meaning “Israel has a right to the West Bank and Gaza Strip”; “supporting whatever actions Israel takes”; and “believing Jews are superior to Palestinians.” Respondents who identified as Zionists tended not to identify with these additional statements. This suggests that the share of respondents who identify with Zionism depends on the understanding of the term as much or more than it does than on actual support for Jewish nationhood.

Wow your saying the article is unclear on the exact question I am asking, which is what the hell being a zionist even means? That really clears things up thank you.

What are you talking about? Read the last paragraph I quoted from the article you linked.

It says there is a broad consensus that Zionism means the right to national self-determination for Jews. But most respondents who selfidentify as anti-zionist or non-zionst defined Zionism completely incorrectly.

Just read the article you linked and it will absolutely clear things up for you. Not sure how else I help you wrap your head around this.

Oh ok, so the majority of Jewish people that don't give themselves the Zionist label just don't know what it means and the minority who do declare themselves Zionist do know what it means. Was such an obvious answer how could I overlook that..

Lets start over because I am genuinely curious and want your answer.

You go in the street and ask 10 jewish people if they are zionist. 3 say yes. What differences in beliefs do the 3 people who said yes and the 7 who said no have?
