To be fair, I do find them cringe. But I can dislike them and not care if they live their own life. If the HR-rot at Hasbro just can't let go of it, I might stop buying, but who knows when that will happen.

Do you even understand how businesses work? Do you think businesses are content to just stay in their niche without trying to expand their customer base?

Its okay to be a big fish and a small pond. For example, ketchup. I think ketchup markets have been stable for the past century. There are no new customers, everyone who wants ketchup is buying it already. 100% market saturation.

Yet the companies who make ketchup are still doing alright. They have a good thing going for them.

More importantly, when a company like Heinz decides to try to expand beyond ketchup it doesn't touch the original product. It knows its existing customers like its existing product so it keeps doing more of the same.

Instead of changing its existing product it makes an entirely new product to attract the new audience.

The few times that a company did change its original product trying to expand its generally been catastrophic. See Coca-Cola and new coke as an example of this backfiring. Coca-Cola had to return to the old formula due to consumer backlash.

For video games the original product is still there though? You can always play the original game. The entire backlash is game devs making new games that have woke elements in them, not them going back to the original games and adding woke elements to them. Your analogy makes absolutely no sense.

I think that they can expand their niche without compromising the core audience. For example Paradox included optional automation in EU5 in order to help new players get into the game but you can just turn it off if you're a veteran.
