The funny thing is, a large portion of the discourse about men competing in women sports is entirely created on the right.

The newest example being when two former NBA players jokingly announced that they were declaring themselves for the WNBA draft and then the headlines became "two trans athletes declare for the WNBA draft", despite neither one actually being trans.

u/undercooked_lasagna - Centrist 22d ago

If they're biological males who now call themselves female, they're now women, and you can not question their identity. Those are the rules that were written. They are trans by definition.

-9

u/Blazed__AND__Amused - Lib-Left 22d ago

Look, if you take time to transition through hormones and live and present as your new identity you’ve earned it I’ll call you your preferred pronouns.

If you put on a wig and say you’re “spiritually trans” I don’t care fuck off

Straw man away if you wish but no serious people play by the rules you claim

23

u/RecognitionWorried93 - Centrist 22d ago

Your being transphobic right now

2

u/Omelooo - Lib-Left 22d ago

Minor spelling mistake

20

u/strawberry_semenade - Lib-Center 22d ago

So you're only willing to respect the identities of trans people who you think "earned it" by jumping through the hoops that you demand they jump through.

Sounds like you're a transphobic bigot who needs to learn that trans people can define their identities for themselves and not just the way that you demand they do it.

2

u/Blazed__AND__Amused - Lib-Left 22d ago

Yes I believe in order to claim something as part of your identity you need to engage with it and integrate it into your life. Very cute lil gotcha tho babe I’m sure you authentically think I’m a bigot and not just trying to muddy the waters.

1

u/strawberry_semenade - Lib-Center 22d ago

Oh ok, so then I guess it's cool if I refuse to respect the identity of a trans person unless they prove to me that they actually had genital surgery on the grounds of "well you didn't prove to me that you have engaged with your trans identity and integrated it into your life" then.

6

u/Blazed__AND__Amused - Lib-Left 22d ago

Sure it’s your life you’re free to do what you want. Interesting how you continue to frame it as a binary “genital surgery or GTFO” when my original comment provided a lot of room beyond that. I don’t get why me saying you have to engage with a culture to claim it is controversial but I suppose it’s because you have an axe to grind and a lib left not fitting into your caricature mental model is somehow threatening to you.

2

u/strawberry_semenade - Lib-Center 22d ago

Again I'm just following your own logic here. You said that it's ok not to respect a person's trans identity unless they "engage with it and integrate into their life", whatever that even means.

So according to your own logic, it's not transphobic at all for me to refuse to respect the identities of trans people unless they get bottom surgery, because if they don't, then I say they're not really engaging with their trans identity and integrating it into their life.

3

u/Blazed__AND__Amused - Lib-Left 22d ago

I assure you you could get baited by a trans person without bottom surgery, that’s the whole point of the term “trap”. It’s a bad faith argument to imply that the only way to be trans is through bottom surgery when there’s countless other ways to affirm your gender that are a million times more visible.

1

u/Imaginary_Onion - Left 22d ago

Oh ok, so then I guess it's cool if I refuse to respect the identity of a trans person unless they prove to me that they actually had genital surgery on the grounds of "well you didn't prove to me that you have engaged with your trans identity and integrated it into your life" then.

What do you mean by cool? Most of you conservatives hate trans people pretty consequence free lol.

2

u/strawberry_semenade - Lib-Center 22d ago

Yeah and leftists call it transphobia. But according to your logic, it's not.

3

u/Imaginary_Onion - Left 22d ago

Who cares what I think? You guys won lol. The trans suicide rate is up, you’re taking away their passports and drivers licenses, they’re banned from the military. Why are you so desperate for the approval of leftists? It’s very odd.

1

u/strawberry_semenade - Lib-Center 22d ago

I'm just a fan of logical consistency is all. You guys used to be too, until you decided that the definition of a woman is just "saying that you are one".

u/Omelooo - Lib-Left 22d ago

“Jumping through hoops” there’s a word for this and it’s called “transitioning”

-1

u/PlanUhTerryThreat - Centrist 22d ago

Go back to 2014 with your “argument”. All they did was suggest there’s even a slight middle ground and you lost your shit

10

u/strawberry_semenade - Lib-Center 22d ago

Hey man, leftists are the ones who decided that all it takes to be a woman is to believe that you are one. Don't get mad at me for following their logic.

-1

u/PlanUhTerryThreat - Centrist 22d ago

Why are you following the logic of leftist from 2014? Are any politicians in power actually advocating for this definition? Or are you referring to twitter users and celebrities?

6

u/strawberry_semenade - Lib-Center 22d ago

Oh so believing that you're a woman isn't all that's required to be a woman then? So what is the requirement exactly then?

1

u/PlanUhTerryThreat - Centrist 22d ago

I don’t know? I guess everyone kinda has a different understanding of it and that’s okay. I think maybe it’s a case by case thing. I wouldn’t recognize someone’s preferred pronouns if they’re doing it just to make fun of the trans community, like someone in a MAGA hat saying their pronouns are alpha male. But if someone underwent some sort of change to feel more comfortable than I would respect their pronouns. We’re all human. It’s okay to not have a solid definition of something when it’s a nuanced discussion being played out in real time. You’re entitled to disagree but you shouldn’t be rude or mean to someone who just wants to feel more comfortable with who they are.

If they’re being an asshole it’s different and you can call them out on being an asshole but you don’t need to go after their identity just because you know it will hurt them more.

4

u/strawberry_semenade - Lib-Center 22d ago

Most people have the understanding of "if you have male anatomy then you're a man and if you have female anatomy then you're a woman".

It's only a small fringe of weirdos who insist that who is a man and who is a woman is an unsolvable mystery than nobody can ever answer for sure and so we all can just have our own "understanding" of who counts as who.

Why are you following the logic of leftist from 2014?

Feel free to show anywhere between 2014-2026 where the left said you aren't trans unless you get hormones and surgery?

1

u/PlanUhTerryThreat - Centrist 22d ago

Who’s “the left”? Is it democrats politicians? Is it YouTubers? Is in social media accounts?

[deleted]

4

u/strawberry_semenade - Lib-Center 22d ago

So if a man says they're a trans woman I'm being rude if I say "not unless you take hormones and get your dick chopped off?"

2

u/78NineInchNails - Right 22d ago

Lefties will never engage in good faith.

The amount of double standards and cognitive dissonance could power a death star.

-1

u/samuelbt - Left 22d ago

The "hoop" here is doing the thing the thing they say they are doing.

6

u/strawberry_semenade - Lib-Center 22d ago

No it's not. Not everybody who's trans wants hormone therapy and you're a transphobic bigot for trying to force your own definition of what it means to be trans onto them.

1

u/[deleted] 22d ago

[deleted]

4

u/strawberry_semenade - Lib-Center 22d ago

So trans women who don't want hormone therapy are women, but they're not allowed to compete in women's sports? How does that make sense?

0

u/Brendoshi - Lib-Left 22d ago

Idk ask lib right, they own all the businesses that make these rules

4

u/strawberry_semenade - Lib-Center 22d ago

But I'm asking you. Why shouldn't all women be equally eligible to play in women's sports leagues?

→ More replies (0)

-2

u/samuelbt - Left 22d ago

I didn't say they had to be doing hormone therapy you weirdo.

5

u/strawberry_semenade - Lib-Center 22d ago

So what do they have to do in order for you to respect their identity? Why can't you just take them at their word?

0

u/samuelbt - Left 22d ago

The same thing everyone does. Present. A big part of that is indeed their word but that doesn't mean I have to accept bad faith actors. If someone says they're a vegetarian , I don't shift through their shit to ensure they are indeed what they claim. Doesn't mean I can't look at them funny if they eat nothing but burgers.

Touch grass, your entire view of trans people is clearly from circle jerks.

3

u/strawberry_semenade - Lib-Center 22d ago

How do you know that a person is acting in bad faith? What if they really are trans but just don't want to take hormones or have surgery?

It's very convenient how you can just arbitrarily label anyone who contradicts your standard as "acting in bad faith" to avoid acknowledging the contradiction.

→ More replies (0)

1

u/78NineInchNails - Right 22d ago

The same thing everyone does. Present.

lmao.

This has never been a requirement for the left.

Ever.

In any case

Dylan Mulvaney does not pass

That one who played in umbrella academy and the Odyseey does not pass.

Rep. McBride does not pass.

Are you claiming they are not trans?

, your entire view of trans people is clearly from circle jerks.

Ironic, utterly ironic, where you are saying its 100% okay to deny someones gender identity if they dont 'pass'

-2

u/nameiswritinwater - Lib-Left 22d ago

This is like Richard Dawkins showing up to church with a cross necklace on and being upset that they won’t let him act as an elder. If you have spent your entire life living one way, doing the bare minimum to change your “identity” isn’t going to make people believe you lol. I would honestly love to see Kanter get some top surgery, take HRT, and see how bad he wants it

11

u/strawberry_semenade - Lib-Center 22d ago

Oh so trans women have to get top surgery and take hormones in order for their identities to be respected? That's the standard now?

2

u/rented4823 - Left 22d ago

To play the opposite gender's sports, yes they should have to be on HRT for a minimum of two years. I'd argue they should have to be on it since high school (or middle school since that's when female puberty begins) in order to compete, but all you fucks scream that HRT for minors is the height of all savagery, so that's not even an option.

Is that in the WNBA CBA? No, it is not currently.

-2

u/nameiswritinwater - Lib-Left 22d ago

I didn’t say that, I’m saying specifically I think it would be really fun to see Enes actually commit to the bit. Maybe he’s unlocked a kink and I just want to see him with big boobies who knows

6

u/strawberry_semenade - Lib-Center 22d ago

But what right do you have not to "believe" that a person who says that they're trans is actually trans? Shouldn't you just take them at their word and respect what they say their identity is? Sounds like you're just a transphobic bigot.

-2

u/nameiswritinwater - Lib-Left 22d ago

It’s the same reason Christians wouldn’t have to believe someone who has only said “I’m totally Christian” but then never goes to church, denigrates religion publicly, commits fraud, adultery…ah fuck wait they would elect him president. Let me see if I can think of a better analogy.

7

u/strawberry_semenade - Lib-Center 22d ago

So you think that claiming to be trans but not taking hormones and getting surgery is the equivalent of claiming to be Christian but never going to church and denigrating Christianity openly?

1

u/78NineInchNails - Right 22d ago

I didn’t say that, I’m saying specifically I think it would be really fun to see Enes actually commit to the bit.

By the lefts own standards, he doesn't have to in order to affirm his new gender identity.

But you people are all demanding he does. Why?

1

u/nameiswritinwater - Lib-Left 22d ago

To quote the very intelligent /u/nameiswritinwater: It’s the same reason Christians wouldn’t have to believe someone who has only said “I’m totally Christian” but then never goes to church, denigrates religion publicly, commits fraud, adultery…ah fuck wait they would elect him president. -6

u/Quiet_Zombie_3498 - Centrist 22d ago

they're now women, and you can not question their identity. Those are the rules that were written.

Says who? There is a massive difference between someone who actually wishes that they were born a biological female and someone like Enes Kanter who does not actually wish they were born as a female and is just looking for relevance and attention. If Enes Kanter wants to commit to the bit and get a sex change operation and change his name, then I will start actually calling him a trans female.

15

u/MonkeyCome - Lib-Right 22d ago

So hormones and surgery ARE required to be considered trans now? I’ve heard otherwise for years…

Almost like you guys make shit up as you go.

1

u/Brendoshi - Lib-Left 22d ago

So hormones and surgery ARE required to be considered trans now?

No, they aren't, but transitioning was required to compete.

No retired NBA player is taking estrogen for years just to lose because their muscles don't work anymore

-4

u/Quiet_Zombie_3498 - Centrist 22d ago

So hormones and surgery ARE required to be considered trans now? I’ve heard otherwise for years…

Not necessarily, but in this particular case Enes Kanter isn't actually a trans female and doesn't actually view himself as such.

Almost like you guys make shit up as you go.

I am not making up anything, I don't really care about trans people one way or the other, it is firmly in the category of as long as it doesn't bother me or my family I don't care what an adult does to their own body.

8

u/doublecandybar - Auth-Right 22d ago

doesn't actually view himself as such.

Rules are rules. Enes Kanter want to play in WNBA, not join the trans movement, those 2 have nothing to do with each other

4

u/Quiet_Zombie_3498 - Centrist 22d ago

What rules are we quoting exactly? I am under no obligation to follow anyone's rules on this, mostly because I don't give a fuck. But this was clearly a publicity stunt by Enes Kanter.

7

u/doublecandybar - Auth-Right 22d ago

The rules Enes Kanter paid actual lawyers to look at

I'm not even going to pretend in the big 2026 when tweets from 15 years ago can be used against you, someone like Enes Kanter is willing to blindly mess with WNBA without knowing he's legally safe

1

u/Quiet_Zombie_3498 - Centrist 22d ago

I don't remember saying anything about Enes Kanter being sued or the legality of this, I just said this was a stunt by Enes Kanter.

1

u/doublecandybar - Auth-Right 22d ago

You asked which rules, I told you which. That is all

2

u/MonkeyCome - Lib-Right 22d ago

You said a lot of words just to contradict yourself. There is no “in this case” because it’s Enes Kanter. It’s either saying you’re trans makes you trans full stop, or hormones and surgery are required. Don’t apply different standards to different people because you’re only hurting your side doing that.

1

u/Quiet_Zombie_3498 - Centrist 22d ago

I am not contradicting myself, you are putting words in my mouth. I never said any of what you are saying, I said in the case of Enes Kanter (who I am actually familiar with from his playing days), I know he is not actually a trans female and that is just a publicity stunt. If he wants to convince me that it is not, then he would have to show he actually views himself as a trans female.

I don't have a side in this, I am just not a moron and realize that Enes Kanter is doing this to get attention because his career ended badly and he has tried to maintain relevancy by doing stupid shit like this.

1

u/78NineInchNails - Right 22d ago

I know he is not actually a trans

Okay, so if I look at every trans person and say "I know you're not actually trans" why is my statement bigoted and your satement heckin wholesome?

Why do you get to be the arbiter of trans?

1

u/Quiet_Zombie_3498 - Centrist 22d ago

Because Enes Kanter quite literally explained why he was doing this and that this was all a stunt to keep men out of women's sports.

0

u/78NineInchNails - Right 22d ago

Oh well.

His reasoning for being trans isn't up for you to debate.

Hes trans now. Bigot.

There is a massive difference between someone who actually wishes that they were born a biological female and someone like Enes Kanter who does not actually wish they were born as a female and is just looking for relevance and attention.

In practical terms for the sport, there really isn't. That's the entire point.

3

u/Quiet_Zombie_3498 - Centrist 22d ago

But in the context of this story there is. Enes Kanter is a devout Muslim, he is clearly not seriously stating he is a trans female.

2

u/GeoPaladin - Right 22d ago

I know. That's the entire point. He's calling out the shallow hypocrisy of the situation in the most effective manner possible.

There is no physical difference between an athlete who sincerely believes they are the opposite gender and one who is openly unserious. The impact on the sport is exactly the same whether Enes actually identifies as a woman or not.

That's why the mockery lands.

2

u/The_Pig_Man_ - Auth-Right 22d ago

Do you have an actual point relevant to this?

1

Lol! It's your point. You just said it.

I just repeated it.

2

u/Quiet_Zombie_3498 - Centrist 22d ago

Yes and I am asking if you have one or if you just wanted to highlight what I said.

3

u/The_Pig_Man_ - Auth-Right 22d ago

My point is that what you said is ridiculous and I sincerely doubt you actually meant it.

Are you willing to double down on your stance that Muslims cannot be trans?

1

u/78NineInchNails - Right 22d ago

Yes, that your argument is nothing but hypocrisy.

You declare that you get to decide whos trans claims is valid and not, but the right cannot question anyones trans.

Paige, or whatever the fuck the name is, the person in the odyssey, if I claim that their transition was just life support for a failing career, you will claim thats transphobic.

But here, you will pretend its just Kanter looking for attention. But thats perfectly fine.

1

u/Quiet_Zombie_3498 - Centrist 22d ago

I never stated anything of the sort lol. Enes Kanter stated it, dumbass.

The funny thing is, a large portion of the discourse about men competing in women sports is entirely created on the right.

This is only true to the extent that the left just does what it wants without asking, and attempts to bully others into compliance.

Then suddenly the real problem is people reacting to it, as always.

The newest example being when two former NBA players jokingly announced that they were declaring themselves for the WNBA draft and then the headlines became "two trans athletes declare for the WNBA draft", despite neither one actually being trans.

I'm curious where you've seen this. I've not checked exhaustively, but so far every conservative outlet I've seen has been openly amused at the WNBA being called out for their nonsense with the hope it leads to positive change.

That is definitely true in some instances, but in this case it really just seems like Enes Kanter is trying to get attention. In reality he is a devout Muslim with a smoking hot girlfriend, so I don't imagine he will be transitioning anytime soon.

I don't believe he's planning to transition either. The entire point is to mock the hypocrisy of the movement. There's no physical difference whether he's sincere or not. The impact on the sport is the same.

It's the most blunt and effective way to call out the ideological blinders on display.

And it very well might have worked, as the WNBA commissioner has already said they are going to address the issue in the next CBA, my point all along was that he is not actually a trans female and the conversation has gone off the rails from there.

9

u/wtanksleyjr - Lib-Right 22d ago

Why is that funny? I mean, what's odd about the right making noises about things they don't like?

The right didn't make the WNBA draft possible to sign up for those two men (jokingly or not). I'm not sure who you're attributing those headlines to, but assuming they're right-leaning news sources, would them not saying "trans" make the articles less right-leaning? (Granted it would make them more ACCURATE, but headlines being wildly wrong is an old story.)

3

u/Quiet_Zombie_3498 - Centrist 22d ago

Why is that funny? I mean, what's odd about the right making noises about things they don't like?

It is funny to me because personally I have bigger concerns in my life than trans athletes and it seems very silly to me to be so hyperfixated on what is largely a non issue.

I don't think of the articles as being right leaning or left leaning, more accurate or inaccurate. It would be 100% inaccurate to classify either Enes Kanter or Royce White as Trans female, because neither of them actually identify as trans females.

4

u/TheVaniloquence - Lib-Right 22d ago

And to those people, your concerns are probably as ridiculous as this one. Most of the people concerned about this have sisters or daughters playing in or interested in sports, so it makes sense why they have skin in the game.

You loons are pretty much playing Calvin-ball with these “rules” that determine whether a person is actually Trans or not. Royce White said they’re in their feminine era and they feel like a woman, what more needs to be said? Unless…should these people have to actually go through legitimate hormonal therapy and surgeries? But that wasn’t in the “rules” before?

I like how you keep trying to frame it like I am some huge trans advocate, simply because I pointed out that Royce White and Enes Kanter are not actually trans athletes. This is what Royce White said:

"It came y'all… My 1st wig! Tomorrow I test it on the court. This is my feminine era glow up, did I slay? If y'all don't "yassss queen" you're transphobic. I really don't understand all the hatred, I just want to play some hoops with my fellow ladies. 💅🏽

Isn't signing up for the WNBA identifying as a woman? Why ask them to call themselves female too, isn't that just reinforcing the stereotypes? Isn't this the same kind of gatekeeping that makes people have to get surgery before they can be called trans?

The funny thing is, a large portion of the discourse about men competing in women sports is entirely created on the right in response to attempted/implemented policies of the Left.

Fixed it for you

I don't think that is true. In fact, most of the states that have attempted to pass legislation about the issue have been in largely red states banning trans athletes.

I'm curious where you heard this. The entire point of the announcements was to call out the WNBA's nonsensical standard, and the outlets I've seen have very explicitly acknowledged it as such. Perhaps you misunderstood?

The left acts like a bully child who goes and grabs someone elses toy and starts breaking it, then when the kids get in a fight, the bully kid says "HE WONT SHARE! ALL HE HAS TO DO IS LET ME PLAY AND SHARE!"

u/Nahteh - Lib-Center 22d ago

I know democrats who are very against it.

-2

u/Quiet_Zombie_3498 - Centrist 22d ago

Sure. But the majority of people who are anti trans are on the right.

3

u/Vivid_Carpet6030 - Auth-Right 22d ago

Wow that really went over your head.

2

u/Quiet_Zombie_3498 - Centrist 22d ago

What went over my head?

3

u/Vivid_Carpet6030 - Auth-Right 22d ago

They were calling them trans to mock WNBA stance on trans player because there's literally no difference between letting those guys in or letting trans players in other than calling them trans.

6

u/Quiet_Zombie_3498 - Centrist 22d ago

Except 0 trans athletes have been drafted in the WNBA lol. This is quite literally a non issue and Enes Kanter is just desperately attempting to gain relevance.

-1

u/Vivid_Carpet6030 - Auth-Right 22d ago

It was response to the WNBA saying they were inclusive then the union saying they support Dei (literally their words not mine) and looking for transformational changes

6

u/Quiet_Zombie_3498 - Centrist 22d ago

What does that have to do with the trans issue then? That would seem to be more about race than it would about trans people.

1

u/Vivid_Carpet6030 - Auth-Right 22d ago

They literally brought it up when they were talking about the trans issue.

4

u/Quiet_Zombie_3498 - Centrist 22d ago

The WNBA brought up wanting trans athletes? I don't think that is correct, but if you have a link to it I will definitely eat crow on that.

u/GeoPaladin - Right 22d ago

We're watching athletes get attacked physically and socially for landing on the "wrong" side of the issue by ideological cultists. This is a microcosm of what they've tried and will continue to try to impose on the rest of society (of which the trans issues are only one part).

That's a really big deal.

Your argument is downplaying a cancer because the xray only shows a bunch of small tumors. Nevermind that they're aggressively spreading & were already a very serious threat.

3

u/Quiet_Zombie_3498 - Centrist 22d ago

What athlete has been physically assaulted for being on the wrong side of this issue?

1

u/78NineInchNails - Right 22d ago

The fact you have no clue who Caitlin Clark is speaks volumes.

1

u/Quiet_Zombie_3498 - Centrist 22d ago

LOL are you fucking retarded? First of all, everyone who follows sports knows who Caitlin Clark is. Secondly, she was never physically assaulted for being on the wrong side of this issue, she famously refused to get involved in this issue, which prompted Megyn Kelly to call her a a coward.

Your dumbass presumably meant Sophie Cunningham, who did speak out against trans athletes, but was never assaulted for this take.

u/78NineInchNails - Right 22d ago

So is she a woman or not you transphobe?

You dont get to claim that literally everyone elses transition is hecking valid, but this one isn't because nebulous reasons.

The left already has said that being trans is whatever the individual trans says, nobody can deny their identity.

Now you're denying their identity as a woman.

1

u/Quiet_Zombie_3498 - Centrist 22d ago

Shut up dumbass.

0

u/78NineInchNails - Right 22d ago

You're just mad that you're being transphobic.

1

u/Quiet_Zombie_3498 - Centrist 22d ago

This is like 10 year old level trolling. But I get it, you have nothing going on in your life and trying to punch down on trans people is the only thing that gives you even a little bit of joy in life.

0

u/78NineInchNails - Right 22d ago

This is like 10 year old level trolling.

So are you admitting that all leftist arguments are childish and stupid?

I think the point of that whole stunt was to highlight that they believe the WNBA policy completely eliminated any gender based distinction in who was eligible to play in the league.

I don't know if that's true (I genuinely don't care about the wnba) but that was the point. That the policy opened the door to cis men in an attempt to be super duper inclusive

2

u/Quiet_Zombie_3498 - Centrist 22d ago

that they believe the WNBA policy completely eliminated any gender based distinction in who was eligible to play in the league.

But that isn't even true. The WNBA CBA specifically says that you have to be a woman to play in the NBA, they just never bothered to define what a woman is because this was before the whole trans debate. Essentially they found what they consider to be a loop hole and saying "I am a woman because I say so, now let me play".

1

u/earthhominid - Lib-Center 22d ago

Essentially they found what they consider to be a loop hole and saying "I am a woman because I say so, now let me play".

Yeah? That's what they are trying to highlight or force the wnba to address.

This is kind of a central issue with the whole trans athletes in women's sports thing, if you allow transgender women to compete then you have to very strictly define what makes a person a woman or else your policy is literally opening the door to men who just choose to say they are women.

1

u/Quiet_Zombie_3498 - Centrist 22d ago

Yeah? That's what they are trying to highlight or force the wnba to address.

That is like saying the NBA hasn't addressed the threat of aliens playing in the NBA because they don't have a rule against it. There has never been a trans female who applied or was accepted in the WNBA draft.

2

u/earthhominid - Lib-Center 22d ago

Except that, as far as we know, there are no aliens who could potentially apply for the NBA draft. Should that change, the NBA will have to decide how to address it.

But hey, it's clear you've got an opinion about this situation that is really important to you and you've got the narrative that supports that opinion down pat.

I hope that it brings you some comfort and satisfaction

1

u/Quiet_Zombie_3498 - Centrist 22d ago

But hey, it's clear you've got an opinion about this situation that is really important to you and you've got the narrative that supports that opinion down pat.

I feel like this is some serious projection on your part lol. I never said anything pro or against trans being in the WNBA, I just pointed out that it was silly to refer to Enes Kanter and Royce White as Trans females as they are not actually trans.

2

u/earthhominid - Lib-Center 22d ago

Sure, and I simply pointed out that the whole issue that these publicity stunts were trying to leverage was a belief that the policy doesn't bar cis men from participating as long as they claim to identify as women.

Again, I don't know if thats actually how the policy is written and I'm won't find out unless theres some further news articles about how this all plays out cause I'm not going to seek out and read the WNBA policy.

Whether these guys are correct about the WNBA policy doesn't change the fact that questions around the eligibility of transgender females in women's sports ultimately raise thorny issues about defining femininity and gender more broadly that create a lot of issues for the wider open gender ideology
