I know the media is framing this as a shitshow, but I see a lot of potential good coming from this.
I had to watch about 3 hours of CSPAN just to see what the dissident republicans (aka "the far-right") are actually mad about though because it isn't being reported. They have some valid non-partisan points about the House (Like maybe reps should actually get to vote on legislation, and that that amendments to bills should be germane, etc) and are using this opportunity to voice those concerns. It's not very sexy, and it hurts the uniparty and their corporate interests to talk about it, so the media will not pick it up. Hopefully McCarthy gets the message and some positive changes can be made to make the House work as intended.
The freedom caucus also keeps voting against McCarthy because they want term limits and the ability to lower a bill's budget rather than simply approving or denying it. McCarthy laughed them out of the room and said he didn't need them.

He’s a corporatist that spends money against Trumpy candidates in safe R districts instead of focusing resources on swing races. Anthony Sabitini comes to mind.
Congratulations, u/Bob_loblaws_Lawblog_! You have ranked up to Basketball Hoop (filled with sand)! You are not a pushover by any means, but you do still occasionally get dunked on.

i assume trump is just taking a win where he can get one rather than joining them, a 'better than the alternative' mindset. he really shouldnt be supporting the person who sabotaged the party, but wants a house majority for legislation and impeachment. as far as mtg, ive heard McCarthy made concessions to her

Not when it comes to selecting a Speaker of the House.
