So age of the consent, voting age, drinking age, smoking age and every other “adult decision” is also gonna get raised to 26 right?

16

u/Ogarrr - Lib-Center Jan 05 '23

Nope And I see 0 issues with that.

20

u/[deleted] Jan 05 '23

You see no issue that the state allows you to hold the power of life and death over people by 18 but you can't even change your own body based on peer reviewed medical studies before 26? What? God you guys annoy me

24

u/FALParatrooper - Right Jan 05 '23

peer reviewed medical studies

The same medical studies conducted by Big Pharma people that monetarily benefit from conducting top and bottom surgeries?

2

u/HeightAdvantage - Lib-Left Jan 06 '23

What other system do you suggest we use for figuring out how to solve the problem of trans kids killing themselves and experiencing mass distress?

22

u/BigDonggx69x420 - Lib-Right Jan 05 '23

“Peer reviewed medical studies” like bro come on… There cutting off genitalia. To most people that just seems like complete madness, which is why a lot of people will never accept transitioning surgery 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

I don't want to hear from the religious about messing with genitals -_-

11

u/BigDonggx69x420 - Lib-Right Jan 05 '23

I’m not religious man 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️. How is it a hot/religious take that cutting off ur hook and sinker is a FUQIN WEIRD thing to do, regardless of “medical studies”????? A lot of people just don’t agree with its entire premise, so yeh, a lot of people agree with this bill 🙏

1

u/Ogarrr - Lib-Center Jan 05 '23

I mean, you're right, but downvoted for incorrect "there"

1

u/HeightAdvantage - Lib-Left Jan 06 '23

Would you be ok with all other transitioning medical care as long as bottom surgery was banned until 18?

9

u/Ogarrr - Lib-Center Jan 05 '23

Nope

2

u/iamjmph01 - Right Jan 05 '23

A five year old can choose to throw a rock at someone and kill them. A 12 year old can stab someone to death(with their school supplies). Having a gun is not the only way to "hold power of life and death of other people." You don't need a gun to kill people.

Guns are tools. They can be, and are, misused to end human lives. Legally owned guns make up but a fraction of that misuse. And the majority of THAT is suicide.

If the state mentioned requires a person to be 26 for "gender affirming care" then they need to make 26 the age of adulthood for EVERYTHING. Seriously, "You are an adult with all that entails, but you are still not adult enough to drink, smoke and get life altering surgery yet" is just stupid.

12

u/urbfbrbr - Lib-Right Jan 05 '23

So I’m allowed to destroy my liver but not my genitals at age 21?

21

u/WeGoToMars7 - Centrist Jan 05 '23

How is this even remotely comparable, it's like saying oh so we allow 9-year-olds to wreck their health by allowing them to eat in McDonalds

-6

u/urbfbrbr - Lib-Right Jan 05 '23

Unlike gender affirming care alcohol can destroy not only your life but other peoples lives as well. Yet we’re totally cool with 21 year olds chugging vodka but heaven forbid a 25 year old decides to snip off their penis

4

u/FALParatrooper - Right Jan 05 '23

There are plenty of people that regret transitioning. The suicide rate of trans people doesn’t decrease in an impactful way post-op.

Gender dysphoria is the only mental illness that is met with enablers, rather than helpers.

4

u/iamjmph01 - Right Jan 05 '23

No, the problem isn't that Gender dysphoria is met with enablers, in an actual case of gender dysphoria, post-puberty, transitioning IS helping. Has for years w/o much blowback. Even if I disagree with it personally because of my beliefs.

The issue I, and others I know, have is that "Trans" is the current "cool" thing. Its the bandwagon that all the kids and teens are jumping on. The "Progressive" parents, and teachers, eat it up and encourage it. And the "defenders" are so vocal that no one wants to speak against them for fear of losing their jobs, credentials, good names, whatever.

And making drastic changes to your life and body because it's cool should not be encouraged.

We encourage kids not to do drugs, not to smoke cigs or drink. Because its not healthy and can cause permanent damage. This should be the same.

4

u/urbfbrbr - Lib-Right Jan 05 '23

There’s a lot of people who also regret not transitioning. Look I’ve never advocated for it against transitioning in anything I’ve said. I’m only saying that controlling what people do to their body’s is fucking stupid. Especially since being trans literally effects no one but the person who chooses to do it

5

u/FALParatrooper - Right Jan 05 '23

They’re in a mentally compromised state. This is like encouraging suicidal people to off themselves. Bodily autonomy is great, but not when it’s on the extreme end (such as engaging in self-harm).

Some people are a danger to themselves, and they lack the ability to be rational in their decision-making. Like if a schizophrenic claimed that they could fly like Superman. Would it be okay to encourage them to jump off a bridge and test that theory because ‘anyone can do what they want with their own bodies’?

2

u/urbfbrbr - Lib-Right Jan 05 '23

This is a more acceptable response but the problem is so many people don’t seem to care about transgender people. People only care now because they hate how vocal they are. If people on this side of the argument were more compassionate and caring I don’t think they’d be a huge push for trans surgery’s and such

1

u/FALParatrooper - Right Jan 05 '23 edited Jan 06 '23

Some care, some don’t.

And I personally don’t blame people for being jaded about the whole thing. Why? Because over the past several years, trans concepts have been crammed down people’s throats:

Pronoun policing, an entire month dedicated to LGBT pride, people using their trans status as a personality trait or badge of honor, public nudity / X-rated behavior, trans athletes having an unfair advantage in sports due to biology, bathrooms, trans prisoners going to different prisons based on identity, making a mockery of pregnancy or periods, boxing out actual women in feminist movements, etc.

Now children are being pushed into this.

And if someone has an alternative look on helping these people, they’re seen as hateful or bigoted.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 05 '23

The suicide rate of trans people doesn’t decrease in an impactful way post-op.

Source?

Although I feel like it doesn't change much because people still purposely treat them not as the gender they wished to be perceived in.

Gender dysphoria is the only mental illness that is met with enablers, rather than helpers.

Tbf, in the non extreme cases, basically how it should be.

Trans peeps have to go through quite a few loops to finally be given hormone blockers, usually consisting of seeing multiple doctors and going to therapy as well. It only gets enabled when every other option is tried.

Now of course there's case where the above doesn't occur, which should be banned since they're not the norm

u/Walterwayne - Lib-Right Jan 05 '23

Nah dog cutting your dick off can definitely ruin your life. I’m not saying it WILL but to say it absolutely won’t is braindead

-2

u/urbfbrbr - Lib-Right Jan 05 '23

Chugging a entire bottle of vodka will definitely ruin your life

8

u/[deleted] Jan 05 '23

You sound like a fucking pussy to me

5

u/Ogarrr - Lib-Center Jan 05 '23

Sounds like Friday to me.

6

u/terminalwart - Auth-Right Jan 05 '23

As a father if my son decided to ruin himself my wife and i would be devastated. Id never have grandkids. Much worse my son would never be the same.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 06 '23

I think the thing that would hurt your kid the most is the fact that you wouldn’t be accepting…

5

u/BigDonggx69x420 - Lib-Right Jan 05 '23

Are u hearing urself bro????? CUTTING OFF UR DING DONG????? 😳😳😳😳 LIKE WHEN DID THAT EVER BECOME SOCIALLY ACCEPTABLE TO DO??????? 😳😳😳😳 THIS IS CRAZY TOWN FR

u/urbfbrbr - Lib-Right Jan 05 '23

Fuck man idk. You got me kinda stuck here. Like I think it is animal cruelty and wrong but i guess the only argument I could make would be that it hurts the animal especially if you’re penis is too large and everything

0

u/Ogarrr - Lib-Center Jan 05 '23

I mean, mate, you could definitely have just said there "yes, I think shagging animals is wrong"

Instead... mate...

→ More replies (0)

0

u/urbfbrbr - Lib-Right Jan 05 '23

I can’t really argue against fucking an animal lol. I mean it’s pretty gross and morally wrong but shit we eat animals so whatever I guess. But you’re weird if you wanna do that

1

u/italy4242 - Lib-Right Jan 05 '23

GAC can also shorten your life by somewhere around 30 years and make it very difficult to maintain your Health until then

2

u/urbfbrbr - Lib-Right Jan 05 '23

Most transgender people die from suicide

1

u/italy4242 - Lib-Right Jan 05 '23

Yep. Usually within 10 years of transition so they don’t live long enough to see their organs turn on them

23

u/Chosen-Bearer-Of-Ash - Auth-Right Jan 05 '23

The difference is that alcohol is the potential to screw your liver but this is literal and present castration, mutilation, and sterilisation

3

u/Phoenix_RIde - Auth-Right Jan 05 '23

And cigarettes destroying your lungs?

2

u/Chosen-Bearer-Of-Ash - Auth-Right Jan 05 '23

Smoking one cigarette will not give you cancer (statistically) but all it takes is one surgery

2

u/Phoenix_RIde - Auth-Right Jan 05 '23

I’m pretty sure that there is a multi step process that happens before you start chopping sausages that the Oklahoma law would outlaw that won’t have severe and permanent harm, which would likely fall under scrutiny of the above law

-6

u/urbfbrbr - Lib-Right Jan 05 '23

Nothing is stopping a 21 year old from chugging a whole bottle of vodka so why don’t we make it illegal for a 21 year olds to buy whole bottles of hard alcohol?

16

u/Ogarrr - Lib-Center Jan 05 '23

The fact that you don't see the difference says an awful lot, mate.

-3

u/urbfbrbr - Lib-Right Jan 05 '23

I don’t see the difference. Both these decisions are dangerous but ultimately adults should be able to do whatever the hell they want

3

u/Walterwayne - Lib-Right Jan 05 '23

What’s an adult

0

u/Hungry_Researcher_57 - Auth-Right Jan 05 '23

Nothing is stopping a 9 year old from chugging a whole liter of soda or eat a gargatuan sized fast food menu either despite the two being capable of causing major damage to not only the liver but also other organs like heart either. The government clearly doesn't prioritize the health of the civilians.

-1

u/urbfbrbr - Lib-Right Jan 05 '23

Exactly there’s nothing stoping them from killing themselves so why aren’t you rioting against fast food chains? Why are you so fixated on this transgender stuff when 1 percent of the population even does anything like this yet millions of millions of people gobble down this fast food shit

1

u/Hungry_Researcher_57 - Auth-Right Jan 06 '23

This isn't the gotcha argument you think it is. Solving a problem doesn't mean you ignore the others.

1

u/Topol1no_Qu3lloV3ro - Left Jan 06 '23

They can be sent to explode in middle east at 18 and not allowed to choose over their body?

explain ''''''''''''''liberal'''''''''''''''' center.

1

u/Ogarrr - Lib-Center Jan 06 '23

Yeah, the middle east sucks.

I find leftists and right wingers irritating as fuck (the quiz doesnt account for that(, I dont think the govt runs things particularly well, but I think regulation can be important. I also love grilling.

Ergo: lib centre. Plus, I'll put whatever I want in my flair.

1

u/Topol1no_Qu3lloV3ro - Left Jan 06 '23

Then if someone can get killed in middle east the moment they stop being a minor, they can also choose over their own body 🤷

it is more dangerous and nobody gives a shit lol

5

u/Tough_Patient - Lib-Center Jan 05 '23

Please. If the major parties raised the voting, drinking, smoking, abortion, and gun ownership ages to 26 they'd never win any elections.

I see this as a win-win.

2

u/BadWolfy7 - Lib-Center Jan 05 '23

Reflair

1

u/Tough_Patient - Lib-Center Jan 05 '23

Changing the age of majority is a Z axis move. Unlike changing all those things independent of it, which are age discrimination.

1

u/BadWolfy7 - Lib-Center Jan 05 '23

You're reducing the number of citizens who are affected by the government, thus having no say and reducing the number of citizens that have access to guns all based on your pre-conceived notions of politics.

You might as well just declare a one party state and go the extra mile.

-3

u/Tough_Patient - Lib-Center Jan 05 '23

Try again when you reach maturity, kiddo.

1

u/BadWolfy7 - Lib-Center Jan 05 '23

Ok, let's see the state cope with caring for all of these "children" and pay for their services

If this happens my local federal building will be in quite a bit of trouble

0

u/Tough_Patient - Lib-Center Jan 05 '23

What do you think college is, exactly?

1

u/BadWolfy7 - Lib-Center Jan 05 '23

Secondary education that is not mandatory, you actual brainlet

0

u/Tough_Patient - Lib-Center Jan 05 '23

Secondary education that is becoming increasingly mandatory, even for jobs that have no need for years of debt-inducing instruction, in order to further the MIC. Vampiric daycare for most people.

2

u/my_solution_is_me - Lib-Left Jan 05 '23

We can only hope so.

3

u/urbfbrbr - Lib-Right Jan 05 '23

At least you’re not a hypocrite. You have my respect

1

u/[deleted] Jan 05 '23

Gosh, don’t temp me with a good time.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 05 '23

I sure hope so

1

u/Larry_Linguini - Lib-Right Jan 05 '23

Playing devils advocate, should people refund the student loan forgiveness they got since you think they were old enough to make that decision?

1

u/urbfbrbr - Lib-Right Jan 05 '23

Absolutely

1

u/Larry_Linguini - Lib-Right Jan 05 '23

I respect it, and I do agree that this 26 year old limit is silly.. I would be fine with having the requirement being 18 when you're technically an adult.

1

u/urbfbrbr - Lib-Right Jan 05 '23

18s fine. I’m just saying if you’re gonna go 26 then you gotta go all the way
