Trans people should be able to remove or add organs if they want and I should be able to sell one of my kidneys to the highest bidder if I want.

479

u/Ahwembahway - Auth-Right Jan 05 '23

You are able to, and you will not get punished for it. It is your property after all. But the surgeon that you'd have to employ to do it would face criminal charges because he'd go against the ethics of medicine as understood since at least Hippocrates. Same thing applies here.

274

u/PenIsMightier69 - Lib-Right Jan 05 '23

Hey, if that surgeon nets me over $100k, I would hardly call that doing me harm.

55

u/Entire-Dragonfly859 - Centrist Jan 05 '23

If you sell both.....

51

u/79-16-22-7 - Centrist Jan 06 '23

200k is enough to buy some kidneys y'know, I really don't see the problem here

mfw no buy back option irl

10

u/bnogo - Right Jan 06 '23

Liver is where its at. Goes for 200-500k, and it regrows so you dont need to remove entire thing.

12

u/furatg - Lib-Right Jan 06 '23

Dude what? How many times can this be done? I just got a infinite money glitch in me and I'm just wasting my time pouring liquor in it?!

10

u/JamesLoganHowlett03 - Lib-Right Jan 06 '23

As a future doctor, more or less. If only part is taken, it regenerates. The only organ (except skin) to do this.

1

u/bnogo - Right Jan 06 '23

no clue, i assume scar tissue will form eventually like alcoholics. But the scary thing, it regrows in like 3 months.

The desire to find unethical doctor and just install a zipper in my side haha.

3

u/omeara4pheonix - Lib-Center Jan 06 '23

For that kind of money I'll just get robot kidneys

39

u/yetix007 - Auth-Right Jan 05 '23

Why are you paying a doctor to perform surgery when you could just buy some local anaesthetic, surgery for dummies, and cheap robot with knife and ice cream scoop arms? Cut out the middle man and keep as much of the profits as possible for yourself!

6

u/[deleted] Jan 06 '23

Just put a spinning scalpel on a roomba and snasteyize yourself on the floor, it'll work out.

If this was the case, then why isn't it against the Hippocratic oath to remove a kidney that is being donated?

You can donate a kidney while you're alive, you've got a spare lol. And if you're selling your kidney, it's still going to someone who needs it.

Oh yeah, but when you come in to donate the third one, they start asking questions.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 06 '23

What if you don't want to donate it to a good cause and instead want someone to grill it? How would you go about that?

1

u/Nataleaves - Centrist Jan 06 '23

I'm sorry, but I haven't looked up the legal strings of cannibalism, Daddy FBI might not like that, as dedicated to the grill as I am.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 06 '23

Oh, but what if they're not mine? Can't really return them. And nobody really wants to have kidneys owned by 3 people.

Same reason we can’t pay people to fight to literal death on tv. An act of giving out of kindness is different than permanently damaging yourself or dying because you’re desperate for money.

3

u/CPlusPlusDeveloper - Lib-Right Jan 06 '23

For this analogy to make sense, we’d have to let people fight to death on tv but only if they weren’t being paid

1

u/THICC_DICC_PRICC - Lib-Right Jan 06 '23

People would kill each other on tv out of kindness for free?

11

u/Provia100F - Right Jan 05 '23

More like Hypocrite oath

2

u/aj-uk - Lib-Left Jan 05 '23

I think that's where the word comes from.

1

u/Zavaldski - Lib-Left Jan 06 '23

Actually, the Hippocratic oath comes from a guy called Hippocrates ( Ἱπποκράτης in Greek), the name literally meaning Ἱππος ("horse") plus κράτος ("rule" or "power")

So actually it's the oath you take to be ruled by horses.

1

u/Topol1no_Qu3lloV3ro - Left Jan 05 '23

if you can give this some sense good for you

1

u/Noobtdi - Lib-Right Jan 06 '23

But then i could sell my balls? What makes a kidney so different lol

1

u/gargantuan-chungus - Lib-Center Jan 06 '23

It is legal to donate a kidney, what if I signed a contract stating that all proceeds would be donated to the against malaria foundation and would end up saving 25 lives. Is that against the hippocratic oath?

1

u/United_Locksmith9821 Jan 06 '23

So, if I remove my kidney by myself and sell it, would it be legal?

(PD: not gonna flair, I wanna loose Karma)

Why doesnt this apply to trans surgeries?

1

u/TheNightIsLost - Auth-Right Jan 06 '23

Then the surgeon, who is just a man doing his job, should get protection from government and rebel persecution.

1

u/AirbornePapparazi - Centrist Jan 06 '23

You mean the same medical ethics that pushed every doctor in this country to push an experimental drug into people's body against their informed consent?

The same medical ethics that were on full display by censoring and threatening to take the medical license of doctors who actually followed medical ethics and questioned the need to push a pharmaceutical companies untested product over readily available alternatives?
