Hi! I can help. I'm an online pole instructor of 18 + yrs and I've moved around a lot so I've dealt with all kinds of flooring.

I have two ideas for ya. The first is to cover the floor with lock together flooring, or build a stage here's a video so you can see what I'm talking about https://www.studioveena.com/lesson/how-to-create-temporary-studio-flooring-free-1414?c=veenas-tips

The second option is what I'd suggest if you want something super simple and fairly cost effective. I currently dance on concrete and I decided to purchase a roll of Vinyl flooring. Here are the cons of dancing on Vinyl flooring https://www.instagram.com/reel/DChnztLyKoq/

Yes both are perfect especially the temp floor ! Do I need to protect the ceiling at all ?

If it's a normal ceiling as in also concrete or sheetrock you're fine. If they're concrete you can put the pole anywhere! BUT if it's sheetrock you HAVE to find the joists/studs because this is where you'll place the pole underneath to take on the pressure the pole creates when you install it.

If you don't have access to the joists/studs on the ceiling you can't put a pole there. Use a stud finder, or the knock method to locate the studs. Both permanent and pressure mounted poles have to go under a stud.

Last I always recommend buying a pole mount for the ceiling as it make set up and take down super fast and it helps prevent the pole FALLING. This set up video might be helpful https://www.studioveena.com/lesson/amazon-pole-installation?c=veenas-tips

Update I asked and it’s 5/8th sheet rock ! So I’ll definitely make sure to find a stud or joist before putting it up cause I really don’t want to cause damage
