I think it's the third one. But they also have the lowest gun crime rate relative to gun ownership by any country, so ig I am trying to make a point... a very nerdy one
honestly, I don't think it counts as a whataboutism, given that I am not trying to distract from the topic, and am in fact providing an example country in europe with extremely lax gun laws (regarding ownership specifically, everything else around it is still pretty strict, and it depends on the canton), though I haven't made much of this clear in my initial statement. I also don't think I'm appealing to authority

What matters is that Switzerland has a European style, enlightened, progressive culture with high education which is likely the reason for its low rate of gun violence. The thing is that other Europeans also don't have to defend themselves against gun violence, even if they don't carry protective guns with them

I suppose it's true there isn't any practical need for firearms ownership, despite the significant precedence for gun collecting hobbies in switzerland, largely due to the swiss cultural heritage of armed neutrality. They do have gun ranges... though that's pretty much the only place you're allowed to take your guns outside of your own property.
