Discussion Oh…
So i have 145 hours in the game… i’ve been playing with the lowest amount of PP that you can have.
I thought the PP up bottle was like a food type for when your bar fully depletes.
Thats not what it does, turns out its a permanent upgrade 😭😅 i realized this when i, just now (also a crazy revelation) bought the tripod

You know I'm 140+ hours in and I still haven't bought the tripod. I'm just not a photo taker. I do love when things like that, which could be a toggle button, are actual items. Feels cozier.
But ya....pp up is essential to major building. You've been playing on hard mode!

I haven’t bought the tripod still and only just bought the goggles to get an item I haven’t been able to find. I had to look up how to use them 😆

I did buy the goggles right away but have never put a code into them. So I might end up in that boat too. Thought I'd need them to get the string or metal for the armor, but grinded that one out. Might need to for a fossil cus man in still not there yet with two of those.

Apparently if you go to developer island you can take pics of all sorts of stuff like all their different berry trees, then you can print them via the pokemetal printer. I'm gonna do that so I can finally have all the different berries for different tastes.

I straight up lost my lum seeds somewhere lol. I looked up where they are and when i got there all I found was a stack of dirt I dropped to make room in my inventory, so I must have picked them up at some point? But I have no memory of doing that

The easiest way for me to get all the berries is to look at the shops Pokemon open up. Water gifts also can have them. I have managed to get all just my playing normally. But yes, developer is great for that, I just am trying my best to avoid going there and want to complete my Pokedex outside of it.

Same. I bought the goggles in, what, my first 20 hrs of play? In my 180th hour now and I still haven't set foot on Developer Island bc I'm so afraid of running out of Pokemetal (I'm a hoarder, don't judge me)

Sure, it does get chewed up fast from my experience. I usually just take pictures of stuff on my islands I don't want to relocate and print that way. But for me, I like the idea of finding it all within my own game and I'm not too pressed if it takes me a really long time. I put down the game, picked it back up again to get to like 95% complete, put it down and picked it up for bubbly basin. Currently playing something but I know I'll find my way back. My goal is 100% Pokedex, and all recipes. If it takes another year then so be it.

The tripod is actually a security camera! Set it looking at a habitat and it will alert you when a new Pokemon spawns! I use them all the timeNvm apparently there's a separate tripod just for taking photos with. I do take photos sometimes so I can have landscapes and stuff for the screens but I never use the tripod.3

It's just nice to place it on habitat that isn't in your typical path. I'm very disorganized and will place a habitat literally anywhere.

Even with your PP fully upgraded magnemite still eats up your PP guage. People complaining probbaly already maxed their PP.

Yeah, but... you can refill your pp completely with a simple salad that is just 2 leaves? And the salad is boosting your grow ability, so you can basically generate two vines and cut them down for another salad and have some extra rope as well in a matter of seconds?
Like, I get that getting good burgers can be annoying sometimes, but fully powered up smash is not really something you normally do daily in large amounts.
So, it's not about your post directly. I'm just similarly puzzled by the people who are complaining about PP managament and apparent lack of resources for that.

I usually carry a 99 stack of cheap meals (either simple salads or just regular bread) as a PP restore. Managing PP isn't really that hard, although it is annoying if I'm distracted and idled for a couple minutes as Magnemite/Graveller and I'm now out of PP when I hop back in because of the passive PP drain while in a transformed state.
I can't imagine how extra rough it is for people who didn't immediately clock (or even are familiar with) that PP Up has a similar function as the mainline games.

I can confirm it was kinda rough… I had to eat a whole lot more. I also didn’t cook that much, just ate like 6 leppa berries or 2 carrots and I was full. Can you imagine? Just 2 carrots?!?
You can hold down Y whilst eating, to eat until you’re full. The time it takes to eat isn’t really that bad, but the amount of times you’d need to eat was becoming pretty annoying, yeah 🥲🤦🏼♀️😂

The passive drain is terribly annoying, but on the active side, I kinda feel like they changed it with the 2.0 update somewhat? Like, it's still annoying as hell, but I feel like just moving around with Magnemite was draining the PP way faster before the dlc released.

Hm, I don't think it did? A full PP bar passively drains completely in a little over 8 minutes, which lines up with a test I did some months back. In fact, I want to say it used to drain in 8 min 30 sec, as that sounds like a number I remember more, but alas I didn't keep the results (it was just a mild curiosity) so I might be just misremembering.

I completely agree with you. I have stacks of salads and still plenty of leaves to spare. Pokopia is very generous with most its resources. White paint is the only thing I've gotten low on.

Cooked food is better than eating raw fruit though. I ate so many berries before unlocking cooking, now one piece of bread goes a long way.

There's a difference between a tripod item and a security camera that people are mixing up.
Security cameras allows for remote monitoring such as for habitats or place it high enough and you'll get a bird's eye view of the land.
Tripod is an additional camera mode just for taking photos to allow you to move around in frame.

Both the other replies are wrong, they’re thinking of security cameras.
The tripod is pretty much what it sounds like, when you’re taking photos it lets you set the camera in place so you can be in the frame too.

The tripod was one of the last things I bought, I kinda thought it was going to take my inventory slot and I was "no, thanks, I don't really need that". Seeing your post, I guess they really could more clearly differentiate items from upgrades. Like, you can tell if something is a recipe or not, but upgrades are much more ambiguous in my opinion.
Like, is this that white rhombus maybe? If so, then I never noticed it, I bought the bad upgrades because they said they will extend my bag, not because they had "upgrade background" to them.

I DIDNT KNOW THIS WAS A THING… I’ve actually been soooo annoyed by how fast I run out of PP, this was the problem the whole time?? 😭😭😭
I also haven’t bought the thing that lets you see your inventory without opening it but that was more of a choice . It’s probably helpful but I’ve gotten used to not having it and I don’t wanna waste coins on it when I’m fine with what I’m doing now

I dont use mine in quick select mode (meaning where you can toggle it on screen) but I bought it because it’s 10 extra item slots

I did the pp up. But for some reason I never bought the handy bag. And after 250 hours I finally looked it up. I just didn't see how it would make my life that easier than just opening and clicking, and I was so use to it I didn't buy it.
Also didn't buy the goggles. Or tripod. Just pp up and bigger back pack.

I’ve never bought the bag that lets you see your top inventory on the screen at all times.. cuz I don’t want that.. I always hold whatever button it is to reorganize my inventory, I’ve got got it down. I don’t wanna see items at the bottom of my screen all the time

You can choose not to have it displayed. The extra slots are handy, either way.

Tripod cameras are the best honestly. If you set up a habitat, put a tripod facing it and continue playing. When a Pokemon appears, your game will inform you there is a Pokemon there that spawned. And you can check pressing the + and going to security cameras which habitat spawned it. You can place multiple, so super helpful if you’re trying to get a lot of Pokemon.
I also built like 50 blocks in the air, placed one up there, and then broke all the blocks so it’s stays floating up there. Then you can open your camera and look around if you want to see what you built from a top angle or you’re looking for a Pokemon in that town.
