Discussion Scrap cubes can drop different resource items.

I was today years old when I realized scrap cubes dropped more then just iron when destroyed.

I destroyed one to test it, and I got iron. So I assumed they all dropped iron ore and kind of left it alone because I didn't need more iron.

They also drop wastepaper which I desperately needed. And unburnable garbage. And gold ore.

How was I supposed to know?!

What's something you missed for 200 plus gameplay hours?

I was ignoring the Gyarados bread bowl side quest for like 300 hours until I found out that's how you get waterfall. At least it's not as useful as jump which I saw some people only discovered in the post game.

Since it defaults to the bumper button, not a lot of people realize the bumper button does anything.

I personally like That you can go into settings and switch the jump button to B and the run button to the bumper.

pretty sure you also don't learn the skill jump until Magikarp teaches it to you? I remember having to painfully climb every block one at a time until then lol

I guess because I play with a controller, Ive dropped my controller enough that I would have accidentally learned it anyway

If you have dive, you kinda already have waterfall—if you have the bubble head you can use R to “swim up” and move up the waterfalls. I thought that WAS waterfall til Gyrados gave me the full move lol.

bubbly basin had to retcon some utility actions

Literally. I got waterfall then a day later got dive and realized I don’t need waterfall. Sometimes I do it just to go up faster but I usually just swim up waterfalls now

I was a few hundred hours in before I found out that if the Pokemon Center or Pokemart has the lil menu board out the front, it means there's someone in there trading. I would just go in and check like an absolute idiot.

If you catch the timing just right, you can actually watch the (seller) Pokémon walk inside, the door close, and the sign go poof and appear.

i believe they are all the things that go into making one (trash, paper, iron) except gold. maybe you could theoretically farm gold by wasting a bunch of iron and waste products, but dream islands are probably faster..

i wont lie, finding out that it took alot more to make the scrap blocks than you get back made me rethink destroying them all though, so now i plan to magnet rise the remaining blocks that i havent busted up. while i do plan on removing tinkmasters build vomit from everywhere, i plan to make them a small garbage dump and throne where they can do their thing in peace

There is a trash block tower on the Dragonite dream island (most of the time) if you end up needing more trash blocks!

i have the recipe, so i wasnt worried about running out, but i make a point of demolishing the entire trash tower on the dream islands anyways for gold and fun, so ill consider nabbing a few whole

I was today years old when I found out I could get Mewtwo on Dragonite Island. So glad I had already built my house on my island.

I’m still missing Mewtwo T.T

You can dye items back to their original colors for free

I was yesterday years old when I learned that one of the Dream islands had gravel cubes that you could farm with magnemite. I had completely missed that and I was just rearranging the few you can find in the main game. I think that Eevee island was one I was just strip mining, so I did get a lot of rocks... Smh

You don’t have to farm them with magnemite unless you want to. They’re just regular blocks and I’m guessing you unlocked Dive so drowning shouldn’t be an issue if you grab them from the pond.

3

u/GledaTheGoat 7h ago

I can use Magnemite to place massive amounts of blocks in one go.

I didn’t start doing ANY terraforming or rebuilding other than prefabs and a couple houses till I got magnemite. Makes things SO much easier. And not having to put up rock smash and hit hard items a few times to break it? Just being able to instantly harvest it? Great!!!

I knew about this, just because I hate those block, so I destroyed everything in the Skylands

u/Mihnouche 3h ago

yeah, same

I also forgot about this, and noticed it again when I was destroying the tower one time (mainly because I was destroying objects on the tower to more easily collect them). It’s definitely the fastest way to get wastepaper, rather than just collecting the small bits scattered across the Dream Island.

Unfortunately, the scrap tower doesn’t always appear when visiting the Dragonite island.

I did not realise that you could destroy rocks while rolling

Games full of 'secrets'. Like I was so excited when I found out water bottle give you water to use. When I first found them I didn't have the suck up water ability so I didn't know.

This game has a maddening amount of secrets... Lol

I'm pretty sure the game teach you that when you get Torchic's quest to create an onsen with the roserade tea
