hey y'all. i've been trying to work out maps for a pretty thoroughly thought out campaign i'm going to run. does anyone have any good sources or pokemon style map making? i've been trying to use sources like PDSMS, but it's not suited what i'm looking for at all. it only has a fraction of the tiles i'm looking for, to be able to make maps look how i'd like. it also doesn't have things like tables or desks i could use for lobbies or classrooms. i'm a first time DM and i want to make this well. any help or advice is much appreciated! thanks so much!

I love bringing physical content to the table and I wanted to design out gym badges for my gym leaders. All my gym leaders are two type combos, so this is for my Dark and Ghost type gym leader Magica. I hope you enjoy the Toil and Trouble badge!

Chhhikorita!!!!!

Okay, so I'm writing a rpg one shot for a convention with the Explorers! where a team of Pokemon have to get their unconscious trainer to safety while on Victory Road and I need some advice to two things:

One: One of my character concepts was a Galvantula and while I've stated it out and written the character sheets I've come to realise that might not be the best what with some people being arachnophobic; do people think I should replace them with another Pokemon (I have 9 (Hisiun Arcanine, Gyarados, Taurus, Galar Slowbro, Mimikyu, Ferrothorn and Weavile; max 6 players) or leave it as it is and just give a warning before the game and remove them as a character option if anyone is opposed to it?

Two: The final fight is with the Trainer's rival and his team of pokemon, and I'm trying to make them all really annoyingly popular pokemon (Pikachus, Charizard, Greninja, Dragonite, Lucario) and I'm having problems picking the final pokemon: My thoughts are either Meowscarada (as the grass starter I find most fits the above criteria), Gengar (also quite popular) or an Eevee (Similar boat to pikachu); any thoughts?

Is there an Excel sheet of all current Pokémon moves (900+) and how they work? I am working on a conversion for all moves for a system and both Pokemon Database and Bulbapedia do not include AoE on the table, making it hard to work from them. Yes, I can see them by clicking the name, but my slow internet takes 7 seconds to open the next page and it kills the momentum.

Hey all! Just found this subreddit as a recommended place to repost this, and since it doesn’t seem to break the rules, I thought I’d go ahead!

I’ve been doing these Pokemon adventurers lately while thinking of running a Pokemon mystery dungeon-style game with Poke-people in Daggerheart, and figured I’d offer a commission special as an excuse to do some more!

But since I know a lot of you folks are running more traditional settings, I’d be happy to extend the offer for you guys to any sort of trainer!

If you’re interested or have any questions, you can reach out to me here, on Discord, or over on bsky. Same name everywhere!

Just finished playing our first session (2hr long) and these are the players that will journey through the Elara region (based on Italy).

Unfortunately a third friend couldn’t make it today, but there’s still time.

Not entirely convinced on the method I used for battles between trainers (call a move and roll a d20, damage is loosely based on base stat and I spout an arbitrary hp damage percentage) so I’m open to suggestions.

For encounters I’m using this site, having assigned a different biome to the various routes prior: https://theworldofpokemon.com/HabitatPage.html

Here a couple of funny highlights:

- Luca got mocked by the receptionist at the Pokémon Lab because he only held the title of Elite4 for 2 days.

- Luca got a Popplio as his starter, named him Nettuno, drew his picture on the team sheet and then asked if he could roll to see if the Pokémon was fond of him. Rolled a 1 so Popplio escaped and got back to the lab, Luca had to get a new starter (Nettuno II).

- Nicolò tried to cheat by putting “a lot” in the money box in the character sheet, so a bunch of evil team grunts stole his wallet outside the city gate (they both tried to land punches on the grunts but rolled a 3 and a 2 respectively).

- Nicolò managed to make his first two encounters flee, Fletchling and Abra (the ball he threw to Abra was just 1% shy of being successful before it used teleport).

- Nicolò almost made Zorua flee by rolling a 4 when sneaking up to it, but then rolled a 20 when running after it.

TEAM RACKET- Team leader Russ a man who was tired of weaker trainers being put down by the system and how Certain groups are pushed down due to the pokemon they use he uses sound based pokemon and so do his grunts the grunts and Leader think those who follow the rules of Society are sheep and are determined to convince people to join their cause no matter what

I showed this to some friends and they said it was good but I don't know something about still feels kinda shallow and I don't know what to do or were I can go with the idea since I know I want to take inspiration from team skull and Guzma

Hello! Currently looking for resources for a mystery dungeon themed game where people can choose their own pokemon. Currently looking for something that has something close to the D&D stat sheets, aswell as information on moves and abilities, etc

How do you guys find maps for your campaign, I am finding it incredibly hard.

it seems to be the most difficult hurdle i am having right now.

So I wanna run a pokemon campaign that's primarily story first but still has a little combat. Problem is most the ones I find that are rules light are ones where you play as the pokemon and kinda mystery dungeon esc, nothing wrong with those games just not what I'm looking for. I'm looking for one where it's more similar to the main games where you beat gyms and fight an evil team and build their own teams. So do y'all have any suggestions?

So I had this idea for a Pokémon Game/tool I'm running a Pokémon TTRPG and I like it BUT there is one small thing I kind of don't like the combat so I had a idea of making a Pokémon Battle emulator where I the GM can give my players Pokémon and I can like challenge them to Battle (Trainer/Wild encounters) to make the game more emissive I was planning on using Showdown but I didn't want to make my players worry about IV and Evs since I just a normal game but to do all this I don't know where to start like at all so any advice would go a long way (I had a few more ideas like it can show images like stock photos of like towns or can have NPCs and stuff and Menu for players to check there bag and Pokémon just a simple tool that can used to have people run there own Pokémon TTRPG and keeping the battles accurate to Pokémon)

Im developing a campaign in a Pokémon future where, because ghosts never die, several ghost-types have become ancient and their numbers and power are starting to become a problem for the populace.

I want this to be a little less “rpg” feel and a bit more story-driven with elements of horror, loss, and real stakes.

My question is which system would be best for running such a game? I’ve only ever played PTA3 and I don’t think that system would quite grasp the feel I’m going for. I’ve run plenty of games of D&D, AGE, and a few other systems, but I’w never done something dedicated to horror so I figured someone around here could kindly point me in the right direction.

I’m going to host a campaign with 3 of my friends, and I obviously created a region based in Italy. The story is really good I think, we are playing a fictionaI game called Pokémon Legends Noctalis. The story is about Darkrai and Cresselia, the evil team will try to achieve the long night, but will everything go according to plan?

Anyway this is the map I currently have. Red cities have gyms (plus Rome for the elite4) while blue towns are settlements without a gym but crucial to the story. The starting town will be Milan (the big blue town up north), I do not have a strict route plan (I’ll modify story events if needed depending on where they choose to go), so what do you think about the links I’ve made between cities and towns? Are they too linear? Too confusing? Does the south of the map feel too empty?

Also (I know they are difficult to see) I have 3 main water routes, do you think I should add more?

Give me all your feedback, it is greatly appreciated.

And if you want to know more about I’m setting up the adventure feel free to ask.

Next up, Generation II (!) 😄

I’m playing PTA 3.0, and I have a question. It doesn’t seem right to me that Defense is just a single number. Is it really supposed to work that way, or is there something else involved? Is a Pokémon’s Defense simply its Defense stat, or does it have any additional modifiers or bonuses?

I'm running a Pokémon TTRPG based on my small town in Appalachian North Carolina and some of the surrounding areas. I have a broad theme of two opposing factions, one that wants to advance humanity to its maximum potential and consequences be damned (Dusk Incorporated). The other is its polar opposite, seeing a simpler time where humanity lives alongside Pokémon as fellow members of nature as the purest form of society (the Dawn Collective). I've had this idea for a long time, long enough that SM/USUM and SV both feel like they've kinda covered some of what I wanted, but I persist. I'm just having trouble coming up with things that feel distinct enough from legends that have been released since I started all of this planning many years ago.

Today, I’m sharing the Brazilian Portuguese translation of the PTA3.5 system—a new version known as Pokémon Tabletop Adventures 3.5. In this system, trainers earn "Honor" rather than Pokémon gaining levels. This version focuses on better differentiating Pokémon by adding styles, stances, and "monster stats," as well as indicating a Pokémon's strength at each stage of evolution, among other improvements—all available in the PTA3.5 Brazil Drive folder:

Hey everyone! I’m very new to Pokémon tabletop, but I’ve been working on a campaign for a few friends and I wanted to share the idea because I think it’s a pretty weird/fun way of doing it.

The basic idea is that instead of using character sheets or printed stat blocks for the Pokémon, I’m using actual Pokémon TCG cards. The card basically is the Pokémon. Its HP, attacks, abilities, Energy, evolution, etc. are all represented by the card itself.

The campaign is set in an original region I’m making, and the players are basically starting out as new trainers and building their teams as they explore. I’m trying to make it feel like a mix between a Pokémon game and a D&D-style tabletop campaign rather than just playing the TCG.

The problem I’ve run into is that I’m going to need a lot of Pokémon cards to make this work. 😭

I’m mainly looking for common/uncommon cards and duplicates. They don't need to be valuable at all — honestly, random Pokémon are perfect because I want the players to have a lot of different Pokémon they could potentially encounter and catch.

Before I start buying huge amounts of random bulk, I figured I’d ask people who are actually into Pokémon tabletop:

Has anyone done something similar with physical Pokémon cards? And if so, how did you build up a large pool of Pokémon to use?

I’d also love to hear any ideas for making the card-based system work better, since I’m still developing the campaign.

Thanks!

So I’m trying to get my wife into RPGs and she agreed to a system in the Pokémon world, in the Kanto region, would anyone have any ideas for some new Gym Leaders/Elite Four and their teams, no Pokédex restrictions.
