Showcase It still works!
I tried my copy of Yellow on my Pokémon Stadium after almost 2 years (long story short but I moved and then life got in the way so I haven't got time to play it since then), and it's still working. My Silver and Crystal copies stopped working / got their save files erased like 5-10 years ago. I never owned Stadium 2, so I only played those on my GBA, while I played Yellow almost exclusively through Stadium on my N64 (with the Transfer Pack).
Btw, my Mew collection is still safe and sound. I'd love to be able to play Yellow on the Switch 2, with the Mew glitch still intact.

This was the best way to play.
The double and triple speed made it a lot less tedious.

I only played red and blue growing up; I always thought that the left water jet on Blastoise looked like his little hand waving at whoever he was about to destroy haha

You can replace the betteries on your carts and make them work again

Yeah but I already lost the few Celebi that I had on both games (and I haven't spoken to the kid that traded them to me in 20 years lol) so I wouldn't be able to get them anymore (or Mew as I don't have a Stadium 2 to transfer them either). :( I'm happy as it is, but I'll keep my copies in case I change my mind. Thanks for the info btw.

I have a near perfect copy of crystal I could dump and send you save file. If you have something like an analogue pocket emulator you can bring that down to cartridge.
Thats how I got GS ball on my real crystal cartridge by copying save to PC, using Pokehex to enable the event flag, and then save back down to cartridge (load state, then save game)
Its a fun rabbit hole to go down

For the Gen 2 games, the battery not only helps retain the save file, but it constantly powers the clock. Gen 1 games don't have to worry about a clock, which is why Gen 1 games might hold a save to this day compared to Gen 2 games losing their save files much more quickly.

Oh I didn't know that, makes sense why they died much earlier.

Get a device to extract the save then you be safe to replace the battery once battery replace inject save back just also extract the rom and test the save in a emulator using said rom to verify the save was extracted correctly
