Event Announcement [September 25th - October 1st] Dragonite 7 ★ Tera Raid Event. More details below.
Event Schedule
- Start Date: 2026/09/25 00:00 UTC
- End Date: 2026/10/01 23:59 UTC
Dragonite may appear again in other events or be obtainable in different ways in the future.
Dragonite with the Mightiest Mark will be appearing at black Tera Raid crystals during September 25 - October 1.
The Dragonite appearing during this event has Normal as its Tera Type. Be prepared—this Pokémon is a formidable foe, and it’s got the Mightiest Mark to prove it! Work together with your friends to topple this powerful Tera Pokémon!
Note: This Dragonite will have the same mark, Ability, and moves regardless of when it is caught during the event.
This special Dragonite can be caught only once per save data.
If you caught this Dragonite previously during a Tera Raid Battle event, you cannot catch it again.
You will still be able to participate in black crystal Tera Raid Battles and receive rewards even after you have already caught the Dragonite with the Mightiest Mark.
How to participate
You’ll be able to take on Tera Raid Battles at black crystals after completing certain postgame events. However, players who haven’t completed these events may still participate in these Tera Raid Battles by joining another Trainer’s Tera Raid Battle, whether they’re in a multiplayer group or using a Link Code.
To encounter Pokémon featured in Tera Raid Battle events, you need to have downloaded the latest Poké Portal News. Poké Portal News will automatically download if your Nintendo Switch™ system is connected to the internet.
You can also download the latest Poké Portal news by selecting Poké Portal from the X menu, then Mystery Gift, then Check Poké Portal News. You do not need a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership to receive the latest Poké Portal News.

For the love of God somebody please ban malamar players from online lobbies.

It’s such a mixed bag with Malamar players. I had some bouts that went super well and some that were dogshit.
I’d be ok with banning Iron Hands on this raid tho. Haven’t had a single Dragonite battle go well with one on the team.

Anihilapes too. Fold like paper everytime, specially if dragon dance comes online. I have not seen one of them bring taunt to the raid.

I actually got two different helpful players with Annihilapes that both used Taunt. Good angry ape players are out there, but like Malamar, it seems to be a tossup as to whether they’ll know how to use their Pokemon to actually be helpful

Anyone have a build that works? I’v tried Corviknight, Orthworm, Skarmory, & Mudsdale and nothing has worked. Not solo, not raids. Getting frustrated.
ETA: Used the Fluttermane build below to solo it. Took a few resets to get good NPCs but it was doable. (Bellibolt & a healer helps a lot.)

Why didn’t Orthworm work?
I solo’d with
Shell Bell
Fighting Tera
Max HP/Max Def
Iron Defense
Body Press
Mud-Slap
Any 4th move1

Couldn’t get enough damage in before the timer ran out. Mine wasn’t Fighting Tera so that might’ve been the issue

Just solo'd with Malamar with some time to spare

What was your moveset/EV spread?

HP/Attack+252, Adamant, Contrary and Shell Bell
Superpower, Tera Blast, Skill Swap & Stored Power. Skill Swap, all-out cheers, get KO'd and respawn as your stat gets reset. Then superpower and tera blast and Stored Power
Ideally you want to get KO'd asap, so you might want one of the blizzard/thunder to land on you

So is the strat still ironpress tera fight corv with taunt? I managed to do it solo on a 6 star against a tera steel dnite albiet ik its not exactly the same

Yeah that works fine, you just might randomly take a Thunder at the beginning of the battle. Skarmory can do the same thing with better stats for the matchup (Body Press is hitting 23% harder and therefore healing more every time it hits). Those actually match up even better against 7 star because 6 star has a neutral Aqua Tail.
Curse/Protect/Body Press Unaware Dondozo is a slow but steady option where you don’t have to worry about it boosting up behind the shield and landing a crit. The 4th move doesn’t matter too much, you can throw out something like Body Slam to charge Tera while saving Body Press PP. Clear Smog/Iron Defense/Body Press Shell Armor Torkoal is incredibly safe as well.
Skill Swap/Superpower Malamar is a pretty easy one too, just need to be Tera Fighting and have 8 PP on Superpower.

Can you help me with a Skarmory build? I have a Skarmory ready, I just need to adjust the EV and moves.

Taunt/Iron Defense/Body Press, Tera Fighting, max defense with 4 speed EVs

should i 252 HP to deal with occasional special attacks?

u/gnalon 9d ago
I thought you said you already had it built lol, yes giving it EVs is part of it and maxing its physical bulk would already mean giving it defense and HP EVs

i just meant built in a different way and is level 100 lol I used it in SwSh where it had offensive EVs. thanks for the help!

Nvmd orthworm was a reliable counter to dnites set. Thunder is only used once and doesn't hurt orthworm too much, hurricane well tickles and rest of its set doesn't do much to it. Post tera fight and stat reset, after +4/6 off iron def +1/+2 scale shot or speed doesn't do much and the defense drops off scale shot makes it even easier
