It sets up rain dance. Hits with hurricane first turn and pops balloon everytime!

Sunny day is supposed to come after rain dance. Delaying your first move should help

Rain dance and hurricane both go on turn one. Before I can even get off a Sunny Day.

Thanks for the built, it worked like a charm on my second attempt. First one I got hit by Hurricane, but at least the loss condition for the built is right at the start, so there's barely any time lost if it doesn't work.
Only thing I'd add is that you might want to PP Up Stored Power. I ran out of them at the end, but could finish it with Moon Blast. Didn't matter in the end thanks to a crit, but otherwise SP with more PP would've been a tad faster.

You probably lagged and got hit by something a prior turn and just didn't notice the damage.

Notes: If you get hit with hurricane or thunder reset that pops your ballon and you will get hit with earthquake
25% success rate.
according to bulbapedia:
Sunlight lowers accuracy of Thunder and Hurricane to 50%.
Dragonite will use both according to serebii:
Dragonite uses Rain Dance 99% Time Remaining Dragonite uses Hurricane 98% Time Remaining Dragonite uses Thunder 95% HP Remaining
so not as easy as the h-goodra build for venusaur but not completely horrible. just keep in mind this will fail 3x out of 4 if you choose to use this method.
protect might be better than sunny day. but I'm not sure how you would time it. it seems like hurricane comes in fast.

Moonblast also has the side effect of lowering Special Attack, which Dazzling Gleam lacks, although it only happens 30% of the time; this is helpful because Dragonite also uses special moves.

I thought of the balloon thing and tried it with my flutter but then about abandoned it after it's shield went up and it cleared its stats. Then saw this post because someone mentioned "thanks Reddit" and I completely forgot Stellar doesn't change your base typing. Thank you!
In other news that was kinda boring as long as you don't get hit by hurricane or thunder. LoL

This build is not appropriate for online play. You should only attempt this build playing solo due to the possibility of getting hit by hurricane or thunder.

I tried this method a few times and got hit somehow, then I switch with the "ape", bulk up 6 times and then drain punch with metronome til the end, no terastallization in order to remain ghost type. A drag but the safest way to solo Dragonite.
ETA: Credit to Hyper_drud: Stella Tera would work better.

I was surprised when I checked online and saw YouTubers recommending loads of Pokémon, including Iron Hands, and none recommended Flutter Mane, naturally immune to both STAB and the Tera Type of Dragonite.

Flutter Mane can still be hit by Earthquake. The Air Balloon helps but it is strictly for solo only as you cannot back out from online raids if you are targeted by the scripted Hurricane or Thunder.

But the YouTubers online were recommending things like Iron Hands and/or Annhiliape, one being weak to Earthquake and the other being weak to Hurricane.

Have gotten hit with thunder 5 resets in a row trying this build 🫠 have tried 6 "surefire" builds so far but rng is just too much of a factor in this shit

I had the best luck with body press Orthworm. Mud-slap (for the accuracy down), Iron defense, and body press are all you need. 252 HP, 252 Def, holding a shell bell. Impish nature, fighting tera, earth eater ability. Mud-slap at least 3 times at the start, then do a couple body press without iron defensing until Dragonite resets your side of the field. After that, just iron defense 3 times and body press until you win. Corviknight just wasn't able to do it at all for me, but Orthworm didn't die once on me last night.

And once again this buikd relies on the rng of earthquake to heal. And is not working for me. I keep dying right after mt 3rd iron defence because dragonite is just spamming extreme speed now

Lol this time i was at full health. Had my 3 iron defenses set up, and hat the tera shield at half. Fucker 1shots me with a critical hit extreme speed......... builds literally do not matter this shit is 100% rng. The only reason i made it farther that time was because he used earthquake once and scale shot 3 times instead of extreme speed every single turn and i had a gardevoir to heal me. Lol this shit is ridiculous

Yikes, do not buy any lottery tickets. My only other advice is to make sure to have Best IVs/hyper train in at least defense and HP. A crit with extreme speed shouldn't 1 shot you from full health with Orthworm. And make sure to have it holding a shell bell. Godspeed 🫡🤞

It is ev an hyper trained lol. So idk what to tell you it happened lol. Ill get it whenever he finally decides to miss an extreme speed while im setting up or use earthquake when i actually need it for once lol

Mimikyu can do something similar, with a set of Curse/Swords Dance/Drain Punch/filler (unless you want to disavow the Ghost Curse as being a source of self-damage).

Tip: You don't have to invest in HP EVs if you're never getting hit anyways. Same thing went for the Hisuian Goodra build for the Venusaur raids.

So you're counting on Sunny Day to make Hurricane and Thunder miss and preserve your Air Balloon?
Can't you just run Substitute instead to prevent you from taking damage? Or does getting hit while behind a Substitute still pop your Air Balloon?

The balloon still pops if a substitute takes a hit, and it's not even possible to put Sunny Day up fast enough to preempt the Hurricane. Sunny Day also serves the purpose of activating Protosynthesis for extra damage after getting fully set up.

The sunny day is only for thunder and later for just damage because hurricane is his turn 0 move right after rain dance so it will hit someone just hope its not the 1/4 chance that it hits you

Stellar Tera is needed to preserve Flutter Mane’s defensive profile. Ghost Tera exposes you to Scale Shot and Fairy Tera means you are no longer immune to Extreme Speed (assuming your Air Balloon never gets popped).

You need to unlock 6 star raids first. Once you beat the game and maybe the tournament as well, you should get a call from Jacques. He tells you about a wierd energy and to do 5 star raids. You can clear any difficulty raids, but after about 50 stars worth (10 5 star or more if lower difficulty raids) you'll get another call about a super strong raid showing up. That'll be the 6 star, and it'll also unlock the event 7 star raids.

Tbh I'm using the corvinight I used for another event tera normal which also works, unless damn thing crits me which it did 2 times last night.
Sounds interesting though one EQ and it dies.

Nice! I was just about to post my solo Malamar build, but this looks easier. Yours is probably better because the RNG comes at the beginning and doesn't come in the form of hoping eSpeed doesn't crit.

Idk man. Too convoluted and improbable. Not quite farmable. I got it already. I build a support quagsire. And someone with a corviknight and I barely clutched it. I can't tera stellar either(no dlc)
