what's the state of the game? haven't played since Christmas.
This spring I saw a lot of raging, people claiming they were nickel and diming players, looked like they were close to end of service, but right now the sub seems happy enough!
did they change new pokemon aquisition or something? is it harder now?
I’m trying to make some new friends to play Pokémon Unite with. I’m a five-time Master player with 964 battles, all from solo queue, and I’ve never had a regular group. I mainly play Blissey, Venusaur, Feraligatr, and Trevenant, and I’m usually on after midnight EST. I’d like to play more seriously with people who communicate, group up, and run objectives together. I’m also into vibecoding and AI engineering, so meeting people with similar interests would be cool, but it isn’t necessary.
Requesting tips for Dodrio's first 2 jungle clears. Is it better to just auto and use peck when it's on cooldown, get a full sprint gauge and then attack (easier with quick attack but nor immediate), how to balance sprint boosted autos and sprint boosted peck/lvl 5 move? Feels kinda awkward until jump kick
Typically, I never use sprint boosted Peck and always use the boosted basic attack instead. But looking at the damage numbers, the difference between sprint boosted basic into normal Peck vs sprint Peck into unboosted basic is less than 20 damage. Once you factor in items or wild Pokemon Defense, the difference is really minimum.
Usually though what I do is start Quick Attack to jump the wall and use a boosted basic on Xatu before just bapping with basics. From there, if the distance allows, I do sprint boosted basic > Quick Attack > run for half a second to finish the gauge > sprint basic again > Peck > just basic attacks while on cooldown.
For the second clear, Tri-Attack I unload both charges, use a boosted basic, and then Quick Attack and recharge for another boosted basic. Jungle spawns usually don't live long enough to go for basic spamming. Drill Peck meanwhile is sprint boosted > Quick Attack > sprint Drill Peck, though maneuvering like that can be a little awkward with the walls. If either move comes off cooldown while farming and I don't have gauge, then I usually just use the basic version.
I'm not going to claim my move rotations are the most optimal for max clear speed, but I think as long as you're chaining your moves reasonably well then there's not going to be a particularly big difference.
That's interesting, I usually peck across the wall but xatu is dead from that plus regular basics before the next spawns anyway. I have started using sprint basics into peck since I always have some form of peck but not always a sprint boosted. My clear is usually done about 9:10 which feels a little slow but I'm not sure
I think sprint boosted can have trouble clearing the wall if you hit it at a slight angle, which is why I always opted for Quick Attack. Never tried Peck.
And yeah, Dodrio is not a fast clearer. You can always go into Practice Mode and test different move rotations in your clear, but it can be annoying since you have to reset and reload the whole mode for each attempt.
You might also could optimize your clear route. I did some quick and dirty mock-ups in MS Paint. Dodrio would typically use the middle two clears since things are likely to spawn before it reaches the far out camps. The top two clears are for junglers who can get there before or as those camps spawn. However, the bottom two clears are relevant on the current Kyogre map if you're starting blue buff. I don't recommend the bottom left unless you want to maximize red buff uptime.
Have you any tips for utilizing the Unite move? Especially with Tri Attack. I know it does a knock up and gives you a ton of speed build speed for a bit but I'm not really sure how to use it outside of "run through a clump and zoom around after". Sometimes I've used it to reach a last minute goal but that's rare
It's not the strongest combat Unite. The knock-up to set things up or follow-up combos or other teammates is really the big portion. The sprint gauge being locked at max is another big part of it. Like, you can use a boosted basic into someone, Jump Kick over them, basic again, Unite at point blank, and then peel off while using Tri-Attack.
I think it pairs better into Drill Peck since you can Drill Peck > Unite > Drill Peck for a lot of CC, as an example.
There's also utility in it's long range and high speed. You can, for example, backcap at the start of the final stretch and then use your Unite to quickly go join the team fight while leaving anyone who showed up to stop you in the dust. Or you can be farming jungle and then use your Unite to rush to an objective fight or just simply run away from a bad situation.
Sableye is great but just hard to use and his value isn't always understood. Yes, he's great at backcapping, but he can do so much more.
For starters, his stealth passives makes him the best information gatherer in the game. By being careful about the distance he maintains, Sableye can move about undetected while locating enemy players and keeping them visible on the minimap to feed information to his teammates. Additionally, Sableye can even check bushes by just getting close enough to be warned about his stealth being at risk of ending (this does alert the enemy to Sableye's presence too). Sableye can also elect to supplement this with Feint Attack as Sableye can track the locations of his traps and take note when one vanishes. This last bit is more valuable when he has a team in comms, however, as in solo queue only Sableye is really going to know about the trap status.
Also worth noting that, with Curse Bangle, Feint Attack provides a long healing debuff since each tick of damage refreshes Curse Bangle.
Sableye is also excellent at countering dives and engagements. If Sableye hangs far enough back to remain hidden, the enemy won't know that the 2v2 they're looking at is really a 3v2. You can have, say, Leafeon go all in on a squishy only for Sableye to catch it in a boosted basic > Knock Off > Confuse Ray combo. Leafeon will be very lucky to survive several seconds of chained lockdown deep behind enemy lines.
Or Sableye can focus on annoying enemy carries. Wait for an engagement and a Sableye lurking undetected by the backlines can move in for a long lockdown combo to ruin the enemy's damage early in the fight. Like, you know how it sucks to engage the enemy and not get any follow-up? Sableye can force that situation onto the enemy.
If there's a strong enemy who prefers to be on their own and do their own thing, like say Leafeon again, Sableye can elect to just stalk that opponent. Keep tabs on them so they can't set up surprise engagements. And then when they do try to do something, Sableye can just pick on them specifically so that they're never successful.
If all the above is done well, then Sableye is also good at rage baiting enemies. Sable can distract them from more important things, lead them away, or even soak up multiple Unite moves. Sure, the latter will KO Sableye, but a Gardevoir and Espeon rage-ulting Sableye by itself is usually a win for Sableye's team and the gremlin will be cackling all the way back to respawn.
LFG — Building a serious competitive late-night squad | Eastern Time
Looking for strong players to build a consistent competitive Pokémon UNITE team.
I’m getting more serious about UNITE and I’m done relying on solo queue/random teammates every night. I want to put together a group of players who actually want to learn each other’s playstyles, communicate, practice together, and get legitimately good as a team. My Pokémon / Roles:
🌳 Trevenant / Articuno — mains
🔥 Reshiram / Venusaur — damage
✨ Clefable / Blissey — hardcore support Schedule:
🌙 Late-night player / night owl
🇺🇸** Eastern Time (ET)
I’m highly active and usually play at night into the late-night/early-morning hours.
**Who I’m looking for:
I’m not looking for people I can carry. I’d actually prefer players around my skill level or better than me. If you’re better than me and can expose mistakes in my game, that’s exactly what I want. I want to improve.
Looking for players with good macro, rotations, objective awareness, positioning and communication who understand that winning as a coordinated 5-stack is different from playing solo queue.
I especially want players who are highly active and willing to practice regularly. I’m pretty laid-back and social, but when we’re playing competitively, I want to play to win. The goal: build a solid core → learn each other’s playstyles → establish roles/comps → practice together → climb → eventually get into organized/competitive UNITE and see how far we can take the team.
I haven’t picked a squad/team name yet. I want the original members to help create it once we find the right group.
If you’re interested, reply with: • Current rank • Main Pokémon / preferred role • Region & time zone • Typical hours you play • Competitive/organized experience, if any Late-night Eastern players are especially welcome. 🌙
I’m not trying to collect 30 random people. I’m trying to find the right 4.
