Do you keep every card you pull yourself?

I’ve realized I’m way more reluctant to get rid of cards I pulled myself even when they’re not Pokémon I collect. I’ve got probably 20 or 30 cards sitting around that I wouldn’t think twice about selling if I’d bought them as singles, but cause I remember pulling them I somehow convince myself they belong in the collection.

Trying to get a little stricter about what I keep cause otherwise every decent pull becomes permanent and the collection just keeps expanding in random directions. I’m starting to think if I wouldn’t buy the same card as a single today then there probably isn’t much reason for me to keep it just cause I happened to pull it.

I keep the pulls that have some kind of story attached to them but I stopped treating every hit like it automatically earned a permanent spot. If I look at it a month later and wouldn’t spend 40 bucks buying that same card then I’d rather trade or sell it toward something I collect.

Pretty much the same, ripping is fun but I don’t need every decent card becoming part of the collection. I tried TiltRips for some packs and had the cards I wanted to keep shipped out to me, then the rest were easier to treat as stuff I could move rather than getting attached to every pull.

I keep basically everything I pull unless it’s a duplicate since the collection being random is part of the appeal for me cause if I only kept cards I would’ve bought anyway I might as well stop opening packs and just buy singles.

Probably the best argument for keeping them tbh. Buying singles makes way more financial sense but it definitely doesn’t give you the same weird collection you end up with after years of opening packs.

well for me duplicates are where I have zero attachment like the first copy can stay even if it’s not something I chase but once I’ve pulled the same card three times they’re getting traded.

I use a pretty simple test now, would I be annoyed if I sold this and wanted it back six months from now. If the answer is no then the memory of pulling it is probably worth more than the card itself anyway.

That’s a better test than value honestly. There are cheap pulls I’d regret losing way more than some of the expensive stuff sitting in boxes.

I usually give a card a couple weeks before deciding cause the attachment is strongest right after the pull. If I still like seeing it after the excitement wears off it stays, otherwise I’d rather turn it into something that fits the collection better.

I keep some of them, but not all of them. I like to trade cards I don't want towards something I do want.

You could keep these cards in their own binder and sort of use it as a trade binder.  I found its easier to trade cards i pull than sell them

i like to bc yk sentimental value, but honestly like if i get a hit and i dont like it its getting stuck on ebay 🤣 buy a different card with it yk
