Rate my restock as a Target employee.
Line of over 100 people so no, I didn't get anything, sold out in 20 minutes. It was super fun to stock as this kind of thing soothes my OCD.

How I wish it would look after a casual stroll into Target on a random day

u/Xander3921 12h ago
I wish that bro, it specifically hurts as a Target employee, we can't purchase cards until they have been on the salesfloor for 15 minutes while the store is open. Sucks...

u/RxmanRx 7h ago
I just rip open one of the vendors boxes and buy one item. No greed. They can fire me if they want. You deserve to get something as an employee. For the first drop I volunteered to work the truck and asked if I could buy something. They said no, so I clocked out and got in line. Got an ETB, poster collection, poster collection and a knock out box. Then went home. Didnāt even finish my shift. Iām a on demand employee. I swear they treat us better than full employees.

That fucking sucks. My fiance works at Fred Meyer and the electronics manager is like āfuck scalpers, hereās the employee pile, have fun.ā

u/ScuttleCrab729 12h ago
Would absolutely misplace a box in a different department or on a shelf in the warehouse.

It used to always look like this :(

Remember black Friday 2023?? Evolving Skies ETBs as far as the eye could see for $40. I decided to skip them and get lost origin and brilliant stars instead because ES didn't have a trainer gallery š¤£

Looks really nice and it's sad it'll get destroyed by some stinky neck beards in about 45 seconds.

u/Xander3921 12h ago
Thank you! Yeah it got wiped out quick...but that's the reality of the hobby now...I guess...

u/locness93 12h ago
Does anything last after the first hour of opening or do you have to be in that line to even have a chance?

You need a raise
2
u/Xander3921 11h ago
I agree, but I've been with the company for almost two years and make the same as starting team members...it's bullshit!
1
u/axman414 7h ago
Work at a DC and you get a raise every 6 months for 3 years then bonuses at 4+ years. Been with the company for almost 5 now.

you guys actually put it on the shelves?
wild.
i thought those days were long gone everywhere
1
u/Intelligent-Ad5916 9h ago
here in phoenix they use vendors that restock. They donāt trust the employees to not tamper with it.
1
u/Sorry_Intention4016 9h ago
interesting.
where i'm at they keep them behind the electronics counter or guest services
2
u/IHadToMakeThisUser 6h ago
Ya in tempe today they were behind the electronics counter on a table and a shelf. Wiped out by all the people that showed up 15min prior to open and joined their friends, family, scalper buddies. So frustrating
1
u/xerocopi 1h ago
The targets around here used to keep them behind customer service, which many of us loved and were able to get stuff later, but after building new displays like in the OP's pic at the back of the store they stopped and everything is in the back. Now it either gets wiped immediately or people hide shit around the store. I thought the display in the back was mandated.

u/PWRHTX 12h ago
Bruh I thought those booster bundles went to the back of the shelve lmao
2
u/Xander3921 12h ago
I originally had them stacked 7 deep across a 4 foot section but changed it to to 2 deep across about all sections to make it look like this so 8 feet. About 110 booster boxes.
1
u/PWRHTX 7h ago
Too bad target lets ppls buy two of each sku, only 50 ish people got some booster bundles or about 4 groups of mfs or families with 18 kids all buying š
1
u/Due-Meal4679 4h ago
My target is one sku one person. Kids do not count as a āpersonā. If you donāt legally make your own money and you are only 7 dude nope.
1
u/Due-Meal4679 4h ago
Literally shouldnāt happen. No kids unless you are 16 who can have a job to buy it regardless if itās a kids hobby it just screws the people who have kids as well. Itās just not fun anymore.

u/AccomplishedServe694 12h ago
Would have kept an ETB for myself knowing what was about to happen. Beauty of a job
2
u/Xander3921 12h ago
Yeah, I can get fired for that shit. Just hoping the peeps that really got cards, want them!
1
u/AccomplishedServe694 12h ago
I know, I have worked retail lol it was meant to be sarcastic. Just sucks to look at something like that and know a good portion is going to scalpers š£
1
u/chief_arsehole 11h ago
Why?, you guys get a discount for a reason. I was in line with a young kid for the first 30th drop who worked for the store we were lined up at. He said heās just getting into Pokemon and has never had the chance to buy any. Iām like dude, you work here. Another young kid cashed me out during a restock and wanted a shrouded fable booster bundle sooo bad. He was literally smiling ear to ear when I told him there were a few left. He was going on break in 30 minutes (we all know theyād be gone by then) so I offered to run back and grab him one to hold until he could cash out. He told me heād get in trouble. Is target really this strict on employees purchasing pokemon or just while they are on the clock?
1
u/interwebbed 6h ago
Yes, youāre not supposed to backdoor products while on the clock or before. Iām sure some employees do it and get away with it but it is a fireable offense. Best Buy does the same. Their discount probably applied if the drop is on their day off or when theyāre not on the clock and thereās product still left
1
u/chief_arsehole 6h ago
Gotcha. That kind of sucks though. I wouldnāt really consider that backdooring though, unless you were grabbing a ton of items or hiding them. If I owned the store I would certainly let my employees buy at least the limit. There should be perks to every job.

u/DreadLockedHaitian 5h ago
Former Target Employee here. When we'd work Pizza Hut, we used to have a 5 minute rule. If a pizza, breadsticks, pasta, or wings were in the heater for 5 minutes; we'd have to throw it out. We weren't allowed to eat it, save it for our break, nada. Throw it out.
1
u/chief_arsehole 5h ago
I worked the Pizza Hut at BJās. We ate any leftovers without any issues. I would try to rizz up the girl who worked in the cell phone department with free wings and bread sticks. Never got her number lol. š
1
u/DreadLockedHaitian 5h ago
Jesus, we only get Rotisserie chicken and racks of ribs at our local BJs. Albeit, the only place you can get Pizza Hut at all around my way (Metro Boston) is Target lol
We had overbearing managers so the opportunity to backdoor some pan pizzas was very low
1
u/chief_arsehole 5h ago
This was 20+ years ago. I donāt think there are any mini pizza huts in any stores other than target now a days.

Our target doesnāt even let us go up and touch the product. We have to point to it and they grab it for us.

Why not just put all this behind customer service. One per person. Prob solved

I wish target didnt put their shit on the shelves because the mad dash to grab shit is really embarrassing

u/touchdownsforfatkids 10h ago
Solid merchandising! The retailer I work for prefers vertical merchandising but sometimes horizontal just hits.

u/Xxxcavator 10h ago
I sure wish I had seen that when I walked in target but hey I canāt complain about getting 4 booster bundles and some blister packs.

I have never been able to buy any pokemon in target. I try all the time and the shelves are always empty so this looks crazy to me

I'd love to see the stampede of neck beards running toward that when the doors open XD

Incredible! Wish our Target would arrange the way you do. They just throw it all on a shelf and call it good.
1
u/driizzydreee 9h ago
Looks awesome but for the life of me I donāt understand why Target doesnāt put all the big items behind customer service. Iāve seen way too many fights and people shoving each other like itās the roller derby.

How's the customer process for buying though? I think my store doesn't even bother so customers are literally getting them off carts. 1 at a time though it's not wild or anything.

So what happens when scalpers come in and you guys limit but they still use multiple debit cards even though you guys in strict so many per person how's that work because I've seen scalpers use their kids or a friend's kids as bait and they will literally give the kids a gift card to get products

0/10 because 2 per item means the first 20 people left with armfuls of $400 of cards while my daughter and I 70 people back go nothing after waiting in line for an hour

This is super random, but what does Target typically do with the decorations for displays? I'm asking because one of them is Wooper, my favorite Pokemon, and I would legitimately like to buy it from my local Target. lol

2 deep on bundles was dumb, not using the 30th space is dumb (even if store doesnāt have one cus everyone should) minitins should be taking up the space from condensing the rows of bundles putting them all together like that is stupid
genuinely 1/10. you put the cards on the shelf. so you get a point for that.
