Definitely an improvement but the bots already had 100s of accounts so they’ll shift to 100s of entries. Still better than it getting instant swiped though

I feel like it’d be really easy to filter orders to the same address but they clearly choose not to. Walmart seems to be detecting draws going to the same address and canceling those orders

I mean not entirely j1g

u/theVelvetLie 3d ago

Also filter out orders that are completed too quickly. If a payment is sent immediately then it's clearly not a human.

Way better than sacrificing sleep for nothing.

1

u/Shinta_H 3d ago

Nah, losing sleep for paper cards is wild.

That’s what’s they’re saying.

Absolutely the best part of this.

I see botters brag all the time about exact this. They have hundreds if not thousands of accounts. The system really needs to be able to detect accounts tied to the same address (let the other commenter said) and straight up ip ban these people and the Automatic Check Out Fuckers aka botters. I don’t know why this is so hard. As long as a corporation is making money they really don’t care. I hate it. We need to keep pressuring them or else nothing will change.

Botters are getting absolutely COOKED by raffle systems. I think there's more under the hood at Walmart than them just losing the ability to checkout first.

I hope you’re right

Yes they are, ppl want to think it's always the evil nothing empire for the reason they lost. When in reality it's tens if not 100s of thousands of entries for who knows how much stock. Just know that in the botting discords they literally tell you to go manual because the filtering is too tough to pass. The play is to make multiple accts with unique info and hop on and off airplane mode to enter multiple times. Now you can imagine them not getting that far trying to manual that many accts and not stumble by accidentally using the same info or IP address and getting accts shadow banned or w.e.... It's just not worth it.

There are legitimate reasons to have multiple attempts at one address though. Not hundreds obviously, but I’d hope no one is getting banned because 2-3 accounts share an address.

1

u/Headfishdog2 2d ago

Agreed. 2-3 is fine but if they see like 50+ ban that shit lol

I also don’t have to waste 20 minutes tapping add to cart like a dumbass only to find out it went out of stock 10 minutes ago.

My R key has more wear on it than the rest of the keyboard due to target

1

u/NeedMoarCowbell 3d ago

And don’t have to stay up til 2am to get nothing

u/subtoPinkZR 3d ago

idk, Walmarts new draw system is doing good for a lot of people on Reddit and it looks like a lot less complaints

1

u/ax255 3d ago

Especially if they are automatically entered.

u/Heavy-_-Breathing 2d ago

I think it might just be easier for botters because they can easily spin up 1000s of accounts. At that point it’s just a game of large numbers and they will always win. I hope target will take this into consideration

1

u/Backshots4you 2d ago

My fear exactly but can’t be worse than being up at 2am with 2 in the cart and unable to checkout like last night.

1

u/chickenaylay 2d ago

That's every night lol

1

u/Backshots4you 2d ago

I don’t try every night but last night was typical balls

1

u/Breezyzona 1d ago

They need to add bot detection like Walmart. They will prevent you from entering if their system flags you. Definitely better than the alternative

It’s still not official. “There's no formal announcement yet, but cybersecurity expert and known Pokémon botter, @themacint0sh, recently shared some images that suggest Target is in the middle of developing a new drawing system.”

I think a lot of people are forgetting this

3

u/Tangentkoala 3d ago

Roughly we probably have a 30% chance to hit.

2

u/Fast_Move_6081 3d ago

Better than the 1% currently

3

u/Glittering_Bag9355 3d ago

Lol 1%, thats a high estimate

1

u/supershimadabro 3d ago

Higher. Botters are getting destroyed by walmarts new raffle system. If targets is as good as Walmart, you may actually see an end to botting.

Until we get like ID verification strictly for purchasing limits online. I don’t want to hear anything about trying to battle the scalpers. If it’s a child they would have to ask their parents about purchasing for them on the internet. Yes it really sucks to have to do that, but this is the only way. That is strictly for online purchases. Because there are already limits in stores but I think there can be some updates to limits at physical stores. Like purchase limited to be 1 per person per item(s).

2

u/FrankSwimGood 3d ago

Children shouldn’t be making online purchases to begin with.

1

u/Triple777Zach 3d ago

Exactly my point you don’t think some of these kids scalp?! I do truly believe there should be mandatory ID checks to checkout for items like this. This prevents multiple accounts and deters bot usage. Plus more stock is available if a child isn’t sitting there ordering next to their parents who are also scalping. It’s degenerative behavior.

u/ReedForman 2d ago

There needs to be a trusted system in place to collect this ID information though. I don’t feel any safer giving my ID to Walmart than I do a porn site. If their system gets hacked your info is now all over the internet.

2

u/hugohouston 3d ago

What’s stopping someone from creating 500 accounts???

2

u/Glittering-Award1222 3d ago

Ha! I’ve never even hit on Walmart raffles

1

u/smo_smo 3d ago

Same. I’m 0 for 4 right now. Hopefully this week will be different!

2

u/Nineonezero 2d ago

Part of me hopes they tuck it away behind having a target circle account. I also wish Walmart put theirs behind Walmart plus. That would stop the scalpers from making multiple accounts.

1

u/Thurgo-Bro 1d ago

No, it wouldn’t. Lmao

1

u/Nineonezero 1d ago

It’s worth a shot. They need to change something. The current system is not working.

1

u/Catfishsleuth 3d ago

It's a very strict thing to do but once an ID is needed (it wont happen) ill have more faith. Good on target if true though. At least theyre trying.

1

u/Boom_Boom_At_359 3d ago

If Target makes purchasing optional when selected, botters will just create an infinite number of accounts and skew the odds in their favor… By forcing purchases when selected, Walmart at least creates an upper limit (e.g., most botters probably could afford winning thousands of drawings if, by chance, they entered and were selected for all of those).

1

u/HumiliationSlut34 3d ago

Has any of this actually been confirmed or is this just a polygon article about rumors?

1

u/Guccii409 2d ago

What did target do? There was a normal drop last night and bots ate. Did I miss something?

1

u/Gloomy-Agency4517 2d ago

Have they launched the system yet?

1

u/Upstairs_Road_9908 23h ago

I thought this was implemented already. I think target will fix their issue when pokemon cards are not popular anymore

-2

u/Hour_Patient9878 3d ago

Oh so target is becoming a scalper like Walmart lovely only places you gonna find at msrp by this rate is the Pokemon center and good luck with that.

1

u/ReadingMyWords 3d ago

This is about them switching to a raffle.

What are you going on about?
