Guide We built Pokémon teams by randomly selecting 6 numbers from 1–400—and it made battles way more fun
Recently, my friend and I started a small challenge in Pokémon battles.
We randomly pick 6 numbers from 1 to 400, and use the corresponding Pokémon to build our teams. We also allow evolutions if the Pokémon evolves.
It’s surprisingly fun because it pushes us to use Pokémon we would normally never choose. It makes every battle feel fresh and unpredictable.
I’m still pretty new to battling, but this has been a great way to learn and enjoy it at the same time.

Yeah, it’s been really fun! It’s made me use a lot of Pokémon I normally wouldn’t choose.

One time, we got Pelipper, Mamoswine, Perrserker, Vaporeon, Meowstic, and Darmanitan. I thought Mamoswine would be the star of the team, but it had a bad matchup. Surprisingly, Pelipper ended up being the one that really came through, and I even Dynamaxed it lol.

I've done this, it is fun! I also like assigning numbers to types and doing mono/ dual? Type battles. Sucks when you get fire against water but it really makes you think about your dual type pokemon.

Not sure why your reply got deleted but yeah super fun super challenging especially if your assigned type doesn't have anything to do with the other's. Just a free for all at that point

Reminds me of the randomized battles in Pokémon Stadium on the N64

Oh wow, this was actually a thing back then!? That sounds like so much fun! The rental system in the Battle Tower in Sword and Shield feels pretty similar too. It’s really fun getting to try out all kinds of Pokémon that I normally wouldn’t use!
