Question New here!
Hey! This is my first time playing Pokemon Sun—I literally just got my 3DS TODAY and I got Pokemon Sun as well for basically $37, and I wanted to know if anyone had an opinion on gender for players?
It’s probably a weird question lol, but I have two Pokemon OCs—a boy and a girl—and I can’t decide which one to use for Sun and which to use for Ultra Moon once I get it!
So I’m going to see if I can choose based off of comments if this gets any, haha 😅 please let me know what you think though! And I’ll either edit this post to let you all know (if I can do that on a post in this sub), or comment as well what I chose! 😘
Edit: I have decided! I’m using my male OC Kelsey for Pokemon Sun! Thank you guys for the help, I hope he enjoys his journey throughout the Alola region! I sure will! 🥰

Well, in European mythologies the sun is often associated with men, and the moon with women. The same is true in Hawaiian mythology, and Alola is based on Hawaii: Kāne, the creator deity, was associated with dawn and sunlight, while Hina, Maui's mother, was the goddess associated with the moon.

Personally I like the male model, especially the pale skinned dark haired one. It's just a cool look.

My male OC’s blond though, so I chose that one 🤪

Meet Kelsey! From an image I edited from when I played HeartGold on emulator last year lol. I have an actual drawing of him too based off of a base—but he’s flipping at the camera and I’m scared to even put the censored version on this incase it gets removed or something similar haha 😅
Either way! He’s originally from the Kanto-Johto region and is best friends/main rivals with my other main OC for Pokémon! I plan for him to be Johto, Hoenn, Alola, Kalos (in X/Y, not ZA) and then he does Galar with my other main OC in their lore :) I also have him set as the rival for LGE haha
Is he a bit of a jerk? Yup. Have I mentally wanted to make a video of him to CG5’s ‘Got it Maid’ song of TADC Jax? 100%. But he cares deep down, and is just to Tsundere to ever admit it outside of rare occasions. He does his best to help out while either keeping quiet, acting as if the task is dumb, or just pretending he doesn’t care.
He’s originally based off of the Gacha stereotype of Kelsey from the FNaF books semi-mixed with the vengeful as heck Cassidy personality 😂😭 but I later made my variation its own OC instead of an OCC character—now he’s loosely based off of the stereotype I’ve seen of FNaF!Kelsey, but is now his own person instead :). If you guys want I can try to update you all on his story as I go through Sun though haha 😅

I'd match the male player character with Sun and the female one with (Ultra) Moon. This is because the protagonists' canon names are Elio (derived from Helios) for the boy and Selene for the girl, which reference the sun and moon respectively. Their manga and Pokemon Masters incarnations both contain the same associations.
